What is Musical Mondays?
Musical Mondays is a weekly linky party where we share a song we're into for the week, and talk about why we like it-or why it effects us. Along with talking about music, I host a month-long music related giveaway sponsored by wonderful people! August is sponsored by Chantilly of Chantilly Songs, who is giving away a copy of her EP Up to the Moon. Make sure to come back later this month as I introduce her to you and share some of her music-which I LOVE!
This week's song:
Everything I Never Knew I Needed (Tornado Song)
by McCall Erickson
I'm a tornado spinning 'round
I'm a tornado spinning 'round and 'round
I'm a tornado spinnin' 'round the sky
And you are the eye
And I am a phone ringing in the parlor
I am a phone ringing off the hook
I'm ringing and ringing like nobody's home
And you are hello
It's funny how the stars know when to align
And everything you never knew you you needed is yours in perfect time
So let's fly to the moon when the moon is full
Let's fly to the moon when the moon is new
We'll fly to the moon way up in the sky
And watch as the world goes by
Then we'll drive to the sea in the middle of the night
We'll drive to the sea yeah you and me
We'll swim in the water with the little fishies
And listen to their mysteries
And watch as the stars burn bright in your eyes
And everything I never knew I needed is mine all mine
Bum bada bada boom (etc)
So I'll be your tornado and you'll be my eye
And I'll be the phone call and you'll be hello
We'll fly to the moon and swim in the sea
Yeah to live with the fishies, you and me

McCall Erickson is actually a good friend of my roommate's from college, and one road trip many years ago he put on her album Beautiful Place and we listened. She has a sweet sound, but some deep dark words to go with it. Since then I've purchased the album for myself and listen to it when I need a calming reminder that life is good and it's time to de-stress. Recently I was having a really stressful day at work and thought "I'll put on McCall" and the universe immediately put on her song It's Alright. It seemed perfect.
What are you listening to this week?
