I Want a #CoronaRita NOW!

This is a Sponsored post written by me on behalf of Chili’s Grill & Bar for SocialSpark. All opinions are 100% mine.

I've spoken before about my love of Tequila (*cough*blueviolet*cough*) and am a lover of Margaritas.  My favorite alcohol mix with a chilled glass, salted rim, and fresh lime?  Mmmmmm...

There arent' really beaches in Utah, so the best that I can do is kick back somewhere and close my eyes as I sip on something that reminds me of the beach.  The two best things for that?  Margaritas and Beer, especially Corona.  I can practically feel the sand and sun now!

So why not combine them?  That's where the new CoronaRita at Chili's comes into play.  It takes to beachy drinks and combines them into one summer experience you just can't miss.  Doesn't it just look awesome?

CoronaRita sm.jpg

The CoronaRita at Chili's is made with Jose Cuervo Especial Tequila and Coronita, and is the perfect compliment to any dish.  My personal favorite is the Bottomless Chips and Salsa.  YUM!

Not only is it great for the hot months up ahead, but this Saturday is Cinco de Mayo and this would be the perfect way to celebrate.  Order bottomless chips and salsa and a CoronaRita and you could just sit there with a group of friends enjoying a great and memorable night out.  I'm thinking girls night out?  Or maybe just my closest friends and I enjoying it.  I promise, the thing I'm addicted to is the chips and salsa, the Tequila and the Corona are just added benefits.  I think I'll be heading to Chilis this weekend... The Fajitas are calling my name...

So what is your favorite thing to eat at Chilis?

Do you like the Chips and Salsa that just keep coming?  Or maybe the Fajitas that are delivered to your table still Sizzling?  Have you tried the CoronaRita and love it?  I'm dying to know how you feel about it and what you'd order if you could go there right now!  I may be stopping in for lunch and want some suggestions!

Two Kisses for Maddy

A year or so ago I had stumbled across the blog Matt, Liz, and Madeline.  I can't remember exactly where or how I found this blog, but I remember being sucked in and spending days reading the back history and all of his posts.  It wasn't that he was the most talented or eloquent writer (don't get me wrong-he isn't terrible or anything) but it was that his story was so haunting and the way he spilled his emotions onto the page gripped me and wouldn't let go.

The blog chronicled events that had happened that would forever alter the lives of many people.  You see, the part of the blog where I started showed that Matt and Liz were madly in love and expecting their first child.  Here pregnancy was hard and she was placed on bed rest and their daughter Madeline was born early.  24 hours after Madeline was born, her mother suffered a Pulmonary Embolism and was gone.  Matt found himself a single father, working his way through raising his daughter and grieving.  It is heart-wrenching.

Somehow through all of that Matt kept the blog going and managed to build an entire support community for himself.  He also managed to write a book about the whole thing.

A few weeks back I read a post about the book Two Kisses for Maddy on Lacey in Love.  This brought me back to Matt's blog where I caught myself up and immediately ordered a copy.

It took only a few days for me to read all the way through.  There were moments I teared up, moments where I felt his joy, and overall I felt very connected to him and his story.  One of the things I liked most was his no-bullshit way of writing.  He told it like it was, and he used language that he felt like expressed it (even going as far as to say in the foreword that you can put the book down if you can't handle swear words) and wasn't going to flower it up or change how he spoke.  The book has a very good sense of voice and emotion, as it should since it's a true story.

One of the best parts?  As Lacey put it "...Unlike most books I am not dreading finishing it because I'm not ready for it to end.  When you read a bloggers book, you get to keep reading the story for as long as they're blogging.  What a bad ass concept."

I would highly recommend you read this book.

Birthday Week

I have some of the greatest friends and family, and they all made last week one of the best weeks ever.  I wish I had thought to get the camera out during the party, but I was much to drunk for that.

Monday: Julie and I went to dinner at The Dodo, which is one of the best restaurants in SLC.  Seriously, I haven't had anything there that I haven't thought was amazing.  Then we went and got supplies to make Drunken Gummy Bears for the party we were having on Saturday.

Drunken Gummies
3 pound bag of gummies
1 bottle of Vodka
3/4 bottle Everclear
3/4 bottle of Triple Sec

Soak for a week, add more booze as needed!
Enjoy!

Tuesday: Josh and I checked on the gummies and I found that they had soaked up so much that I had to add more vodka and split them into more containers!

Wednesday: Had dinner with my grandma and my baby sister at Chili's.  The service was meh, but I did get a free brownie for my birthday.  Though that meant I had to let them sing to me...

Thursday: Shawn, Justin, and Brian took me out for Pho and then ice cream after.  IT was such a good time, and soooooo yummy.

Friday: I gathered a bunch of my friends together for dinner and games! It was so much fun.  Megan, Jon, Josh, Kristina, Courtney, David, Valor, Ortie, and Max joined me for Sushi and asian fusion food at Sapa.  Soooo yummy! I had like 3 Lychee Martinis...  The flowers and wine are from Kristina and her family, the pounds lost jars are from Valor.

After dinner we went back to my house and met up with Ken to play Telestrations and hang out! It was so much fun! Then Kristi, Ken, Courtney, and the kids all spent the night! We played games until late and then Kristi and I got to lay awake talking. Sleepover!

Saturday: We woke up early and made biscuits and gravy for breakfast, and then they all headed home and Josh and I hung out, did some shopping, and finished cleaning.  We also got to see Josh's mom before the party started.

Around 7 Pookie showed up.  I haven't seen him in a really long time, and we went to High School together so it was fun to catch up.  The minute he showed up we started drinking and eating gummy bears, and I'm pretty sure I was already drunk by the time the rest of the party showed up.

Meggy and Jon were the first to show after that, and brought me a shiny blue bag.  I love them so much, and I am so happy that they found each other in this crazy world.  The card said something about how glad they were to have me because I can put up with both of them at the same time! Haha, it was funny and cute.

Slowly but surely the rest of the party started filing in, next came Ortie and Max.  Max had gone and picked up my present from Josh because he'd accidentally shipped it to his grandma's.   I actually squealed out loud when I opened it!  Josh knows me so well, and I guess he spent all month hoping I didn't buy it as I debated back and forth buying it... lol The candle is from Ortie.

Ashley came, Kasey came with his new Fiance Jeff (so cute!), Amine and Stacey came with another friend, Pookie's friend showed up, Megan's friend Jackson came, Angel & Andy came, Doug and Julie came (obviously, we shared the party!), and perhaps a few others... Though I was toasty by then...  The Malibu is from Ashley, the card and itunes card from Kasey, and the package on the right from Amine & Stacey!

Sunday: I had breakfast with Max and Josh, and then we ran Max to a meeting he had to go to.  After that I changed into a cooler dress (it was 95 degrees!!!) and headed over to my grandma's house for my family BBQ.  My cousin Daniel came with his friend and his new little husky puppy, soooo cute! (I didn't get a good picture though.)  We ate good food, and then I played frisbee with Cole, Ari, and Ryan for a while.  It was fun.

Here's the cake and gift from my mom.

Then after cake my grandma showed us the baby kitten she found stray under her porch.  He was so sweet and rolly-polly.  I wanted to take him home! I'm pretty sure he is still being fed by his momma, and I can't really have one yet... Man I wanted to cuddle him.

After I got home from the BBQ I shared more of my cake with Ken, Kristina, Max, Josh and Miss Brittany who stopped by.  It was so good to see them all again, and it was sweet of her to stop by.

All and All it was a really great birthday week.
I am reminded just how blessed I am.
And just how much everyone means to me.

I am one very lucky girl.

(MM) No Pressure Over Cappuccino

This week's song:

No Pressure over Cappuccino
by Alanis Morissette

And you're like a 90's Jesus
And you revel in your psychosis
How dare you
And you sample concepts like hors d'euvres
And you eat their questions for dessert
Is it just me or is it hot in here?

And you're like a 90's Kennedy
And you're really a million years old
You can't fool me
They'll throw opinions like rocks in riots
And they'll stumble around like hypocrites
Is it just me or is it dark in here?

Well you may never be or have a husband
You may never have or hold a child
You will learn to lose everything
We are temporary arrangements

And you're like a 90's Noah
And they laughed as you packed all of your things
And they wonder why you're frustrated
And they wonder why you're so angry
And is it just me or are you fed up?

And may God bless you in your travels
In your conquests and your queries

***

Since I've had music in my car again I've been able to listen to my music and really feel my choices for Musical Mondays.  This song is amazingly pretty, by Alanis (whom I love) and the one chorus completely struck me.

Well you may never be or have a husband
You may never have or hold a child
You will learn to lose everything
We are temporary arrangements

Now before you worry, or try to instantly reply with words trying to comfort me or reassure me that these things will happen for me, that is not what I am looking for.  I'm not throwing a pity party or feeling sad about it; I'm just musing on the subject after listening to the song a few times.

She doesn't sing it like it's something heartbreaking or sad (even though it kind of can be), she just states it like it's a fact and possibility that you just need to accept.  Which, it is.  You may never have all of the things you're wanting in life, no matter how much you want them. So you really just need to accept that and go on living.  Spending all of your time sitting around wishing for those things and feeling sorry for yourself that you don't have them.  All you can do is keep your head up and find a way to get through.

I am working on accepting these things as I have grown weary of all this wanting that usually ends up with nothing.  No longer am I going to sit around and pine for my "true love" or whatever may be out there, because it also may not be. Some people don't get married and have children, or have lasting and loving relationships.  I may not be one of those people, and someday I may fall in love and find that special someone, but I also may not.  I'm done worrying about it.

I'm just going to live on by myself, and if it never happens than I'll accept that and keep living on.
