Joe gets up at 6 a.m. and fills his coffeepot with water to prepare his morning coffee. The water is clean and good because some tree-hugging liberal fought for minimum water-quality standards. With his first swallow of water, he takes his daily medication.
His medications are safe to take because some stupid commie liberal fought to ensure their safety and that they work as advertised.All but $10 of his medications are paid for by his employer's medical plan because some liberal union workers fought their employers for paid medical insurance - now Joe gets it too.
He prepares his morning breakfast, bacon and eggs. Joe's bacon is safe to eat because some girly-man liberal fought for laws to regulate the meat packing industry.
In the morning shower, Joe reaches for his shampoo. His bottle is properly labeled with each ingredient and its amount in the total contents because some crybaby liberal fought for his right to know what he was putting on his body and how much it contained.
Joe dresses, walks outside and takes a deep breath. The air he breathes is clean because some environmentalist wacko liberal fought for the laws to stop industries from polluting our air.
He walks on the government-provided sidewalk to subway station for his government-subsidized ride to work. It saves him considerable money in parking and transportation fees because some fancy-pants liberal fought for affordable public transportation, which gives everyone the opportunity to be a contributor.
Joe begins his work day. He has a good job with excellent pay, medical benefits, retirement, paid holidays and vacation because some lazy liberal union members fought and died for these working standards. Joe's employer pays these standards because Joe's employer doesn't want his employees to call the union.
If Joe is hurt on the job or becomes unemployed, he'll get a worker compensation or unemployment check because some stupid liberal didn't think he should lose his home because of his temporary misfortune.
It is noontime and Joe needs to make a bank deposit so he can pay some bills. Joe's deposit is federally insured by the FSLIC because some godless liberal wanted to protect Joe's money from unscrupulous bankers who ruined the banking system before the Great Depression.
Joe has to pay his Fannie Mae-underwritten mortgage and his below-market federal student loan because some elitist liberal decided that Joe and the government would be better off if he was educated and earned more money over his lifetime. Joe also forgets that his in addition to his federally subsidized student loans, he attended a state funded university.
Joe is home from work. He plans to visit his father this evening at his farm home in the country. He gets in his car for the drive. His car is among the safest in the world because some America-hating liberal fought for car safety standards to go along with the tax-payer funded roads.
He arrives at his boyhood home. His was the third generation to live in the house financed by Farmers' Home Administration because bankers didn't want to make rural loans.
The house didn't have electricity until some big-government liberal stuck his nose where it didn't belong and demanded rural electrification.
He is happy to see his father, who is now retired. His father lives on Social Security and a union pension because some wine-drinking, cheese-eating liberal made sure he could take care of himself so Joe wouldn't have to.
Joe gets back in his car for the ride home, and turns on a radio talk show. The radio host keeps saying that liberals are bad and conservatives are good. He doesn't mention that the beloved Republicans have fought against every protection and benefit Joe enjoys throughout his day. Joe agrees: "We don't need those big-government liberals ruining our lives! After all, I'm a self-made man who believes everyone should take care of themselves, just like I have."

Excitement & Previous Blog
I cannot begin to express how excited I am today. As in, I almost didn't sleep, and I actually didn't mind waking up this morning! How's that for a shock?
When I get off work today I'm going to head straight for Bountiful, where I'll pick Josh up from work and then we are going APARTMENT HUNTING! People, this is the first step on the way to getting our apartment and finally having a place that's our own! There are a couple we're excited to take a look at, especially one in Sugarhouse. It's small, but it has room for semi-formal dining and it's in the area we want to be in. That means we can have dinner parties!

Seeing as he was my inspiration for it, it really touched me to know that he read it and thinks about it. It also happens to be very well written. Random Thoughts, Moving & Politics.
It seems like for the last two days I have been sitting here staring at a blank blog entry screen and thinking "I'd like to write something." Yet even as I sit here with a prompt, the inspiration eludes me. What did I write last week? Maybe I have some follow-up to do... Hmmm...
Ok, well... Random Tuesday Thoughts! Yeah!
Thought #1: I need it to be the 9th of October. I need to get my first wonderful paycheck and move into a wonderful little apartment with my wonderful friend Josh. Yup. I cannot possibly express enough just how psyched I am about this, though I'm sure I've tried before. I'm going to call and set up some appointments to see a few apartments this week, I'm so excited! Oh, and Jon has opted out of moving in with us, so we're back to looking for a two bedroom.
Thought #2: My coffee date was fab. Emily is a doll, and I really enjoyed spending the day with her! We had coffee, then wandered around Barnes & Nobles, walked around the park, had Vietnamese for lunch, and ended up back at my house watching QAF because she's never seen it before. It was a great time!
Thought #3: My friend had an awesome date on Sunday too. It's not my story to tell, but I'll just say that I'm super giddy for him, and I can't wait to meet this person Friday.
Thought #4: Friday = Zombieland. Saturday = Capitalism: A Love Story. Whether or not I will make it to (or can even afford) both, (or any at all) is a good question, but I'm going to try!
Thought #5: It's supposed to Snow tomorrow! WTF? It's not even October yet, and they're already saying it's going to snow. Bugger! I don't want to miss out on fall. The leaves haven't even changed colors yet. Check out the Weather Forecast!
Thought #6: My sister's bridal shower wasn't as bad as I thought it would be. We had good food, and I was able to see some family I haven't seen in a while. Talking with my Aunt Jenny, I laughed and said if it wasn't for blog-land we'd never know what was going on with each other! I also loved seeing Lori and her girls (including Kelsey), Aunt Vicki and her family, Both of my grandmothers, Aunt Lu and Tammy, Mom, Shayla (well duh, she had to be there), Anna and her girls, Nicci and her family, Carma and anyone I'm missing... But I think that was it...
Thought #7: Apparently a lot of my coworkers have blogs, and I am starting to wonder just how much I should filter what I write in here now! If you want to check any of them out, they're listed to the left in the Coworkers section! :P
Thought #8: I received an email from Representative Jason Chaffetz in regards to the health care reform. It was in response to something I had written him before, though I can't remember exactly what I said. At least this guy (while my opinion differs slightly) sounded a little more intelligent. I'm sure it was another blanket email, but it didn't make me think he was a total ass-hat (pardon me) like I did with Governor Gary R. Herbert. Can I just say I am ABSOLUTELY NOT voting for that shower-bag? (For those of you who don't know, the french word for shower is douche!) To make a long story short, I very much dislike Utah's new governor, and I really wish we could h ave Jon Huntsman back. Why did Obama have to steal him from us so he could be the Ambassador to China?

Travel Wish List - Writers Workshop
Man, it seems I'm doing a prompt every day now! I guess that's OK, because this is about the only social site my work filter allows, so I'm going to be on here a lot. I think I need to start finding more people to follow. :)
Anyway, it's time for Mama Kat's Writer's Workshop! The prompt I chose this week is "If you could travel anywhere in the world, where would it be and why?" The only problem with that is, I couldn't just pick one place for that. I want to see everything, and unfortunately I'm a little behind in life because I haven't even been out of the United States, and I don't even own a passport yet... So, I decided to make a travel wish-list!

My family lineage comes from this area, and I've wanted to see it for years. One of these days I'll make it down to see the country my gypsy blood comes from. Unfortunately I wouldn't be able to do much research on relations, because their hall of records burned down years ago in a big fire. That's kind of tragic.
I'm learning French! One of these days I'll get to go to France and tool around. I don't want to be a tourist, I want to be a traveler. I want to go experience all of the things people don't see, but that doesn't mean I don't want to see things like the Eiffel Tower and the Louvre, I do!
Again, another place I'd like to just go find a back alley pub and hang out. I want to see everything, and one of these days I'll get Josh to take me and show me the sites. It's his home!

Ever since I was little I've felt a strong pull towards this country, and I'm dying to see it! Melanie was able to go with the Anthropology department at Weber State, and they toured around and saw everything from old Irish cathedrals to graffiti and religious warfare. It was amazing, and I would love to go see the Giants Causeway and so many other historic sites!

I want to go sit in Italy and eat real pizza, and have a glass of real wine. Ken and Kristina lived there, and while they say they hated living there, it was still beautiful to see and there are things they miss. For the record, Kristina says "All roads DO NOT lead to Rome!"
Who doesn't want to go see mummies and pyramids? To see the ancient thrones where Pharaohs sat and run your hand through the hot sand? Well, I want to at least. I want to see the hieroglyphics, and museums and tombs!
A country full of colors. Mostly, I want to walk through a bazaar and see all of the colors, hear all the sounds, and see the sites this amazing country has to offer. I want to meet the people, and see their world. I want to watch belly dancers, and eat authentic curry!
Asia in general, but Japan the most. I'd love to wander around Tokyo and see all of the gadgets and watch the people go about their busy day. Also, real Sushi sounds like heaven.
Ja Mon. I would definitely like to visit and meet all the fascinating people. It would be killer fun!
I am FASCINATED by the old Mayan and Aztec culture, and would love to go see the old temples and pyramids. Absolutely amazing!
It's so quaint and cute, I can't help but want to go and walk down the street looking at the little shops and houses. Copenhagen sounds fantastic.
Amazing. I'd love to go see all of the different historical museums, and even things like holocaust museums and different things like that. This country also has some VERY beautiful scenery.
This is a country that is rich with culture. I think I am most fascinated by the people and their legends. The crisp water and pretty beaches are just a bonus. This is a place I want to wander around old temples and also just sit and watch people as they go about life.
Yes, I want to see the running of the bulls. It's strange, and I'd like to be well out of the way, but it's something I'd like to have seen at least once in my life. My friend Cristin went to Spain a few years back, and she said it was fantastic.
The biggest thing for me here? Architecture. I want to see old cathedrals. Every picture I've seen of their building is beautiful, and I'd love to go... Camera in hand.
This is part of the Czech Republic, but the most fascinating thing for me in Slovakia is Cachtice Castle. That's the Castle of Elizabeth Bathory. It's just ruins now, but I'd still love to go! Blood Bath anyone? I hear virgin blood preserves your youth... lol
Apparently West Morocco is off-limits because of land minds, so I don't really want to see that part. Morocco is part of Africa, and Cristin went a few years back. Apparently you can take a boat over from Spain for pretty cheap, and it's interesting to see the street peddlers and the culture here.
One of my very best friends Cristin (Yes, I've mentioned her a lot, because she's a big traveler and I've known her since I was 7) is from there. She visits her grandmother there. When we were little her grandmother would visit every summer, bringing with her tales and gifts from home. I loved that woman, and she instilled a desire to visit her country in me. Maybe one day I'll get to go see her again and she'll show me her country, as she hasn't been able to make it here for a while now.
There are a lot of other places I'd like to visit, these are just the top few on my list. There are places here in the states I'd still like to see, like the Winchester Mystery House in California, or the Salem Witch Trial museums in Massachusetts. However, I am itching to get out of the country and see other bits of the world!
