Must-Visit Casinos When Travelling the World

Must-Visit Casinos When Travelling the World

The biggest casino venue in the world is Macau, and it is also the place where you will find some of the world’s largest casinos. Macau is China’s answer to Las Vegas but on an even larger scale and along with online casinos such as http://www.gamingclub.com/au, has actually made quite a dent in Vegas’s status. There are many casinos located there, but one that is worthy of note is the Venetian, the largest casino in the world. The casino is a kind of mock up of Venice with a central canal which is crossed my many small bridges and along the banks of which you can take a stroll and visit some of the top haute couture and designer outlets. Many people associate world casinos with Las Vegas.

There are two main casino locations there, downtown and The Strip. The casinos come in many different styles, and will suit many different tastes, but one that you should certainly aim at visiting is the Bellagio. In terms of scale it is huge, and it is easy to get lost inside; however for sumptuousness it is very difficult to better. It is famous for its display of dancing fountains lights and music that are held on its lake in form of the building, a major tourist attraction.

In Europe one of the best casinos to visit in the world is the casino of Monte Carlo. It is very different from the kind of casinos you find in Macau and Las Vegas. Its history dates from the middle of the nineteenth century. Lavish both externally and within, it feels much more up market than most casinos. Over the years it has become legendary, and numerous heroes and anti-heroes have been associated with it. It has featured in various James Bond movies and was used in Ocean’s 12. The casino generates so much revenue that locals no longer pay any taxes, but then Monte Carlo has more billionaires per square mile than anywhere else in the world. END

Austenland by Shannon Hale {Book AND Movie Review}

Synopsis According to Goodreads
Jane is a young New York woman who can never seem to find the right man—perhaps because of her secret obsession with Mr. Darcy, as played by Colin Firth in the BBC adaptation of Pride and Prejudice. When a wealthy relative bequeaths her a trip to an English resort catering to Austen-obsessed women, however, Jane’s fantasies of meeting the perfect Regency-era gentleman suddenly become more real than she ever could have imagined. Is this total immersion in a fake Austenland enough to make Jane kick the Austen obsession for good, or could all her dreams actually culminate in a Mr. Darcy of her own? Don't miss Shannon Hale's next book, Midnight in Austenland, a mystery set at Pemberly available in February, 2012.

Starts With Goodbye {Musical Mondays & Giveaway}

This week's song:
Starts With Goodbye
by Carrie Underwood

I was sitting on my doorstep
I hung up the phone and it fell out of my hand
But I knew I had to do it and he wouldn't understand
So hard to see myself without him
I felt a piece of my heart break
But when you're standing at a crossroads there's a choice you've gotta make

Some Serious, Some Educating, and Some Fun... {Weekly Round-Up}

Painting Bliss: RIP Robin Williams
♥ Ashlie from Painting Bliss wrote a very honest and touching post in response to the news about Robin Williams' suicide this past week.  I have heard so much misguided negativity and backlash out there-but none of those people know what it's like.  They're too quick to judge and not to feel compassion.  So many horrible and hateful things being said by people who are hateful and/or mislead.  I love this post as it comes from someone who not only has a huge heart, but who also knows what it feels like.  She's beautiful.

A Peek at Karen's World: I don't need feminism because...Wait, what?
♥ Karen A Peek at Karen's World wrote a great post about Feminism and how there is such a stigma over the word that people are using it incorrectly.  Seriously-we need Feminism.

Wonder Forest: MAKE YOUR OWN NAIL WRAPS!
♥ Dana from Wonder Forest shared a tutorial for how to make your own nail wraps, seriously cool!

The Grand Adventures of Me: You Might be a Blogger If...
♥ Nina from The Grand Adventures of Me shared this fun little You Might Be a Blogger If... post.  #Truth.

A Beautiful Adventure: Pesto Quinoa Zucchini Boats
♥ Katie from A Beautiful Adventure shared a recipe for Pesto Quinoa Zucchini Boats that looks delish!

The Weekly Round-Up

Share your favorite reads this week!
The point of The Weekly Round-Up is to focus on other people instead of just another post about ourselves.  It's to build better community, share insight into what we love to read, and hopefully introduce you to a new blogger you'll love and adore!  Wanna play along?  Write a post with links to your favorite blog posts from others throughout the week, put the button in it, and link up with us on Sundays!

I Confess... I'm Not 100% Sure I Can Do This

Miranda July Quote.
I confess... I'm having trouble coping-much more trouble than I ever expected to have. I knew the transition would be difficult and that I'd miss my best friend like crazy, but I didn't expect to feel so lost. Change is hard, I know that, but this feels like everything is different. Nothing feels the same. Nothing feels quite right. I'm not 100% sure I can do this.

Miss Angie's Rester Sauvage Foot Tattoo

I confess... I finally got my second tattoo!  I'd wanted to get one with Josh before he left for Canada so we made an appointment and just did it!  I got "rester sauvage" which means "to stay wild" in French on my foot with these beautiful little birds.  If anyone ever tells you that the foot is one of the most painful places-believe them.  It hurts so bad.  I want to add some color but that will have to wait for me to build my courage up again.

Sanskrit Tattoo

I confess... Josh got this little Sanskrit word on his wrist.  The closest translation of it is "faith" or "trust" and it's a pretty little reminder to have faith in himself and the world around him.  I really like how he got it done in brown ink so it looks like henna-a little bit of permanent henna.

RIP Tanner Dog

I confess... On top of all of that change my mother texted me Saturday to let me know they had to put down my family dog.  Tanner was supposed to be my little brother's puppy.  He was a reward for learning to sleap in his own bed.  But that dog chose me.  He used to sleep with me every single night when I lived at home, and even as he grew old and became both deaf and blind-he knew me.  Somehow he still knew me.  My heart was broken.

Josh by the Campfire

I confess... I was lucky to have it dragged out as long as it did.  Josh was supposed to move to Tremonton with all of his things when his mother came and got them last Friday.  However his stepdad had a golf tournament and was stressed so she thought it better if I brought him up there on Sunday.  I was ecstatic-a whole other weekend with my best friend.  Then Sunday came and I drove him home and it got so late while I helped unload and store things that I ended up spending the night and didn't have to say goodbye until the next day-I stretched our time together as far as it could possibly go and for that I'm grateful.

I thought I could get away without crying but I didn't.  I started the minute I hugged him goodbye, and then had several small cries from his mother's house to the freeway.  I was fine the rest of the day as I went about work-but driving home I realized I was going home to an empty apartment and I lost it.  I don't know that I've fully regained my composure again since.

What Whiskey will not cure there is no cure for

I confess... I've been drinking my feelings away a bit.  No, I'm not an alcoholic, but a little whiskey has gone a long way to calming my nerves and the bouts of grief I feel when I think about all the empty spaces in the apartment.  Empty spaces I really thought I'd be excited to fill with my things, but that I haven't been able to touch.  I'm working on putting at least one new thing in these empty spaces each day until it feels right.  It's slow going.  I also find it very hard to sleep knowing I'm the only one there.  I know it'll get better, but for now-it's spooky a little bit.  It didn't help that there was the loudest thunderstorm outside my window which pulled me out of a sleeping-pill induced sleep the other night.  I was scared to death.  lol

Fiat 500

I confess... I have a new car.  Well, new to me.  I bought Josh's little Fiat 500 since he had to sell it when he moved.  It's a stick shift, so that's been exhausting for my brain and I killed it like 3 times the other day in the rain.  Thank goodness for sport mode.

I confess... I drove my old Civic to school and work once or twice this week.  I told myself it was because I need to get it out so people can see the For Sale signs in the window, and because I hadn't purchased a parking pass for the new car yet-and the old one's is still good until the 31st... But honestly?  It was because I just needed something to be the same.  The apartment feels different, my work schedule is different, I'm in new classes, my car is different, and I'm missing my best friend.  It didn't feel better.  It didn't feel the same.  I just kept thinking about how I really should have been driving my new car and practicing.

Don't Give Up Quote

I confess... For now I'll just keep on keepin' on.  There's not much else to do but keep moving forward and hope it all starts feeling better. It's oddly like a breakup-but yet not. We're friends and we always will be, but man I miss seeing him on a regular basis. I really miss having him around.

*Update* I went out Wednesday night and I feel a lot better.  It's still hard sleeping in the apartment all alone, but it gets a little better day by day.

Josh's Sushi Weekend Camping & Tubing in Oneida Narrows

As you can see, I'm playing catch up with updates here on the blog this week!  Life has been crazy while preparing for Josh to go and what we're all doing after.  A few weeks ago we went camping and tubing at Oneida Narrows.  This has been a (mostly) yearly tradition for our group of friends for a little while now and we wanted to make sure we got one in before Josh left for Canada.  So Josh, Valor, Kristina, and I packed up and headed for Idaho and Ortie joined us the next day.

We took to calling the weekend "Josh's Sushi Weekend" due to the fact that he was the only guy, and when the trip was over he called his mom and told her he was "all femaled out."  Can't say I blame him, I am a girl and I definitely needed a break from women after it!   But the trip was a lot of fun and we managed to get in some good food, great company, and several trips down the river on our tubes.  I also got to play with the camera a bit too-which is always fun.  I need a LOT of practice.

Going Away Party Take 2: Photo Post

The Saturday before last we threw a second going away party for Josh.  We wanted to make sure to have one that our friends in Salt Lake City could attend, and really-I wanted one last party in "Josh & Angie's Apartment" again too.  It was such a great time, and we had fun trying to take some group photos.  Here's the result of breaking out my camera at the party... We started just getting the old gang together, and then people one by one started jumping into the photos.  We even got some good groping ones to recreate some old photos from our past.  You can definitely see how much fun we were having in these photos.

August Literary Junkies

Man, remember all those months I had a goal to just read one book?  Suddenly I'm just flying through them and I'm back on a good reading habit-which I LOVE!  I'm so excited to be into reading again! So of course, this month I definitely have to play along for Literary Junkies with Pink Heels Pink Truck & Life with a Side of Coffee, as well as this month's co-host Girl on the Move.

1. What are you reading?  Tell us about it!
I'm currently reading Outlander by Diana Gabaldon on my iPad and The Gargoyle by Andrew Davidson (but mostly Outlander as I'm hooked!) in paper book form (you know, for when the iPad is charging lol.)

2. Do you read one book at a time, or read multiple books at once?
As you can see above, multiple... Though I tend to only focus on the one I'm most hooked on while reading.

3. What is the first book that made you fall in love with reading?
I've loved reading since as far back as I can remember.  I devoured the Goosebumps books as a child (my favorite was Say Cheese and Die) but the first book I obsessively could not put down was Indian Captive: The Story of Mary Jemison by Lois Lensky.  I read it repeatedly in the fourth grade and obsessed over the tale of her being forced to live with a native tribe.  It took years of hunting to find the book again as an adult since I remembered the cover vividly but not the name or the author.  The other one I felt really shaped my love of reading was The Lion, The Witch, and The Wardrobe by C.S. Lewis.  I loved all Narnia books.

4. Do you prefer the physical copy of the book or an electronic version?
If you'd have asked me this question a month ago I would have sworn I'd never switch to eBooks ever.  Never never never.  I'm an avid book lover-I like the feel, the smell, and having them lining my walls/shelves. However, I've recently discovered a love of using my iPad to read books... It's easy to do in the dark, or on a trip where you can't carry a lot of books, and it's SO easy to just get the next book you want without waiting for it or going anywhere... I may still prefer the regular books for those novels I know I want in physical form, but reading the digital ones has been great too!

5. What are three books on your to read list?
I have hundreds on my to-read list... I'm going to share both the next 3 I am reading (for sure-and already have) plus the top 3 on my wishlist-just because it's fun!
