My Top 10 Inappropriate Fictional Crushes

Maybe I'm a weirdo, but I'm sure I can't be the only person out there that falls in love with totally inappropriate characters on TV?  Not all of them are fictional... But most are-in which case it's totally the character and not the actor playing him.  Please let me know I'm not the only one?

Otherwise, read on-you'll realize my heart is a freak and you'll probably stop wondering why I date the wrong men...

10. Dexter Morgan from Dexter

Okay, maybe he's not totally inappropriate... I mean he's a character they want us to sympathize with, but he still kills people... But he only kills bad people, and he does it with such conviction.  It's hard not to love him.

09. Sylar from Heroes

I'm definitely not the only one on this one.  He was so bad.  He killed so many characters we loved, but man, he was so dang sexy while he did it.  It helps that Zachary Quinto is so attractive, but I loved Sylar first.

08. Anthony Bourdain (No Reservations & Parts Unknown)

Okay, so this one isn't a fictional character-he's a real life chef and travel buff.  He smokes, he's not necessarily the nicest guy, and he's kind of old for me... But there's something extremely sexy about this well traveled food aficionado. 

08. The teacher from Etre et Avoir

Also not fictional.  This teacher was part of the French documentary Etre et Avoir (To Be and To Have-you can see it on YouTube) and I can't explain it-he's not necessarily sexy, except for the accept, that's pretty good-but he's pretty old.  I was just so smitten with his sweet spirit I think, and he cared so much for the kids.

06. Jareth the Goblin King from Labyrinth

This is another I struggle to call inappropriate since so many of us feel this way... But I'm sure there's a whole generation of ladies out there that just can't even understand our love of Jareth and David Bowies Bulge... I mean younger generations must think we're so strange, and I know older ones think we're freaks... But we'll put him on this list because I had my first inappropriate feelings for this character...

05. The Master from Doctor Who

Yeah... He's a bad guy, I have a thing for bad guys I guess... But I can't help but get stoked when hear the drums...

04. Doctor Gregory House from House

Yeah, he's old, decrepit, and a total dick... But there's just something about his quick wit that makes me love him.

03. Doctor Frank-N-Furter from Rocky Horror Picture Show

So this one has to be included.  It's odd that I was so turned on by this character, I realize this... Unfortunately this character has been kind of ruined for me after recent dating adventures and now I'm worried that RHPS will be ruined for me forever because my stomach kind of turns.  Hopefully I get over it, but for now let's just pretend that whole mess never happened because Tim Curry as Doctor Frank-N-Furter belongs on this list.  There's no getting around it.

02. Bane from The Dark Knight Rises

You might not believe this, and you can definitely call me weird for it, but it's not Tom Hardy I'm attracted to-it's Bane.  He has to keep the mask on.  I know, I'm a freak.

01. Sterling Archer from Archer

Okay, what's not innapropriate about this one?  A: He's a cartoon character, B: He's a total jerk and treats women (well everyone) like crap, and C: If I knew Archer in real life I'd probably hate him.  But I just have so much love for him and for this show in general.  Love love love.  

Well, I think I'd better get in touch with my shrink now...

Top 20 Movies on My Halloween Watchlist

I love Halloween, and I have a love of scary movies that goes all the way back to my childhood when Poltergeist was something I looked forward to all year, and I begged my mom to let me watch Stephen King movies.  I've always loved Halloween movies, so I'd like to share my Halloween watchlist with you!  Enjoy! 

1. Hocus Pocus (1993): This seems to be one of the top movies on most peoples' lists, and I could not agree more.  In fact I recently learned I didn't have a copy, and promptly logged into Amazon and ordered it!  Now I do!

2. Practical Magic (1998): One of those movies that can't be forgotten.  It's not necessarily overly scary, but it's a staple for me.  One of my favorite movies of all time.  It reminds me of good times and past Halloweens with Melanie.

3. The Halloween Tree (1992):  One of my favorite childhood Halloween movies.  It's strangely creepy for a cartoon, but it should be since it's made from a Ray Bradbury novel.  He has a knack for the creepy-and it's so great.

My Fall TV Watchlist

Oh Fall... Not only does it mean cooler weather and pumpkin-spice-everything-but it also means the return of lots of good TV!  Are you ready?  I have no idea where I'm going to get the time to watch all this, what with school and work and my already hectic homework schedule... American Horror Story Freak Show - Starts Wednesday, October 8th 

American Horror Story is one of my favorite TV shows ever.  It's full of creepy-and Freakshow promises to keep delivering on that promise with both new and returning faces (sometimes double) in the show.  Those characters will be fascinating!

Doctor Who Season 8 - Started Saturday, August 23rd
Oh Doctor Who, you will always have such a special place in my heart... Also I'm already loving the new guy.


Grey's Anatomy Season 11 - Starts Thursday, September 25th
I know, I know, I know... It's been on SO long.  But I love it.  It's an addiction.  This is my show.

The Mindy Project Season 3 - Starts Tuesday, September 16th
I love love love her.  I'm not sure how it'll be that they're together-but so much love for this show.

Summer Television Watchlist

I'm a TV show junkie.  I'll admit it.  I don't watch much of anything on actual TV as it's playing-mostly I stream via Netflix, Amazon, Hulu, or catch it at a friends house.  With Summer being here, it means a whole new set of TV shows to keep up with-whether it's relaxing by the fan or putting it on while I craft or clean.

Here is a list of shows I'm excited to watch this summer.  Some are oldies I've been keeping up with, and some are new ones I'm excited to give a try.

Shows I've been keeping up with in the past:

I read the Sookie Stackhouse Series by Charlaine Harris, so I've been a big fan of True Blood since I heard it was going to be made.  Those books were some of my favorite guilty pleasure reading, and while the show doesn't exactly follow the story line of the novels, it's a good guilty pleasure watch as well!   This will be it's 7th and final season, and I hope for a good end to a show that I've enjoyed watching with friends. Have you started Orphan Black yet?  Because if not you MUST.  It's my new favorite show, and you can catch the first season on Amazon Prime for free (if you have a membership).  I'm obsessed with this show and all of it's characters, and I LOVE Tatiana Maslany and her talent at portraying such unique women!  Trailer HERE.

Penny Dreadful is yet another one that I want to yell "IF YOU'RE NOT WATCHING THIS DO IT NOW NOW NOW!" Because it's brilliant.  It's based off of the old nineteenth century penny dreadfuls that were cheap and lurid fiction released for only a penny.  It has such an awesome perspective on old stories such as Frankenstein & his monster, Dorian Gray, and much much more.  My roommate and I are hooked and wait for it every week-the acting, costumes, and film is simply beautiful and I can't forget to mention that it stars a childhood crush Josh Hartnet and a Doctor Who favorite Billie Piper. Based on the popular Pretty Little Liars novels by Sara Shepherd, I'm pretty sure the majority of blogland has included Pretty Little Liars in their lists of guilty pleasures.  What is it about this teenage ABCFamily show that is so damned addicting?  This season just started, so I'm working on getting caught up on last season on Netflix before they air 5 episodes and Hulu starts removing older ones.  Does this show set off anyone else's anxiety like mine?  I spend a good amount of time stressed out.  Trailer HERE.

Yeah... Orange is the New Black season 2 was released 2 weeks ago, so you've probably already watched it.  I finished it in less than 24 hours, but had to add it to my list because it's that awesome! Trailer HERE.

Did anyone else watch Hemlock Grove on Netflix?  It's so messed up.  I spent the majority of the first season going "WTF just happened?" but it was addicting, and while confused I kept coming back for more.  Which is what is going to happen when it hits Netflix again on July 11th.  I'll keep coming back. My roommate and I are in love with Inside Amy Schumer.  Not only is she just plain hilarious, but she's always calling people out on their crap and tackling social issues-which is even funnier!  Trailer HERE.

New shows I'd like to give a try: 

Fargo has been on for a few months now.  I've not yet seen the movie (it's in my Netflix queue) but have been hearing nothing but good things about it.  I really need to give it a try and get caught up.  Trailer HERE.

The Leftovers is a new HBO series based on the novel The Leftovers by Tom Perrotta.  It's a look at the Rapture, which has essentially just happened, and the people who were left behind after. Trailer HERE.

The Strain is a new FX series that is supposed to bring vampires back to scary.  I am a big lover of Guillermo Del Toro and his creep factor (I LOVED Mama) so I really want to give it a shot.  Trailer HERE.

I'm not sure that Halt and Catch Fire is something that will hold my interest long, but I LOVE Lee Pace (R.I.P Pushing Daisies) and it might be fun to see a look back at the 1980s computer craze. Trailer HERE.

You're The Worst is a new FX comedy about two self destructive people who fall for each other and by the previews, I think it looks hilarious.  Just have a look at the trailer HERE.

Salt Lake ComicCon 2013

This weekend I was lucky enough to make it to SLC ComicCon.  I've never been to a convention before, so when purchasing tickets I only nabbed Saturday tickets thinking that I wouldn't want to be there more than an hour or two-but I was so wrong!  We were there from about 11am to 9:30pm on Saturday, and after attending panels and learning things I found myself wishing that I'd been there all three days-though I still think they should have done it Fri/Sat/Sun instead of Thurs/Fri/Sat, but oh well-it is Utah.

We arrived and stood in line for about 45 minutes.  The lines were a MESS, mostly becuse they did not expect that kind of turn out... But once we got in it was a blast seeing all of the cosplay, walking around the artist's booths, interacting with a few choice celebrities, and going to panels.

There were only two celebrities I had any desire to interract with. (Personally I hadn't gone in thinking I'd have any desire to get autographs or pictures, and while I didn't get autographs I did get two pictures with Celebs that I now love more than ever.)  I know the big ones were there (Shatner, Adam West, Stan Lee, etc.) but really didn't care enough... Kristina waited for an hour and a half to see Stan Lee speak for 20 minutes and said he was actually really rude to his fans the whole time... Which leaves quite a bad taste for him now... They said Adam West was funny and personable, but Shatner seems to be stuck on an endless loop of self promotion and senility. lol

First we stopped to see Nicholas Brendon.  It was only $10 to get a photo and they said we could all be in it.  First thing he did was step up and ask me if I wanted a hug-UM YES! So I hugged him, and then I told him that we weren't going to mention Buffy, but instead Josh wanted to commend him on Psycho Beach Party, and I'd like to tell him that he played a very convincing crazy rapist on Private Practice.  He laughed and thanked us.  He had the ability to make every photo look like he was just hanging out with his friends.

The second was Manu Bennett from Spartacus.  Not only is he attractive (um yes, cuddled up against his muscley chest there was amazing!) but he has a sexy Australian accent and he was SO nice.  He took time to stop and tell us how going from Spartacus to Arrow was like moving from playing classical piano to being a pop star-but that he had enjoyed both of them for their differences.

 I also have to send a shout out to Geek Lee Tist, who I followed on Instagram prior to convention, and when we stopped to talk to him I realized I did-and told him so.  He handed me his phone and said "Hey, make me follow you back" so I found my IG from his phone and now he follows me.  He was awesome, and his art is both nerdy and snarky-I love it.  Oh and the guy from Unicorn City-didn't even charge for this photo-he was so nice! Emily just hopped up there and he posed!

 By the time I figured out what panels were I made it into the Skinwalker Ranch panel and then tried to catch the JJ Abrahams Rebooting Star Trek panel but when it was too full we made it into Effective Horror which ended up being so boring that we snuck out after 20 minutes.  I was pretty bummed I missed the Spartacus panel which Josh and Doug went to and thought was amazing!  We also watched the last hour of a fantasy movie (that was horrible, but at least pretty) and then caught the world-premier sneak peak of Skinwalker Ranch (which is made locally. During the Skinwalker Ranch panel I let Kaylee do some nail art on me to keep her busy, and she was actually really good!  It's a tree!

It was also nice to get dressed up... I just wore my Wookie shirt, but I did my makeup and nails pretty!

A few fun facts I learned about Salt Lake City's first ever ComicCon:

• They planned on 13,000 people but when they sold nearly double that in the first few hours they had to move it from the South Town Expo Center to the Salt Palace.
• We actually had 70,000-80,000 in attendance-making SLC's ComicCon the first in the nation to have that many people attend in the first year-setting a new record.  This also put it on par with regular attendance in cities like Las Vegas.
• This was the biggest convention of any kind Utah has ever seen.  There's another record.
• The Fire Marshall shut it down 3 times during the entire process for violations and the amount of people.  This set another record, as it's the first convention in Utah to ever be shut down. Record.
• Next year our estimated turn out is expected to rival that of San Diego, which is the largest. WOW.
