Cakes Under the Influence

Cakes Under the Influence

I was recently contacted for a review of Cakes Under the Influence, and thought it was such a fun concept I had to try it out and share it with my readers.  If you're not familiar with this site, it's an awesome shop where you can order supplies for making alcoholic cakes-in a varieties of styles and flavors!  They also have an option for cookies-which I can't wait to try some time!

Cakes Under the Influence

Mine definitely did not turn out as pretty as the photos, but it's hard with the Utah altitude.  Pretty or not, they tasted fantastic!  I used just Amaretto (oops, forgot the mixer-who needs mixers? Haha!) with the chocolate cake.  The supplies for baking these are really fun-little martini shaped molds which you place in a cupcake pan to keep them separated.  I had a really fun time mixing these up (and eating left over batter...) and then cooking them up to eat after.  Definitely boozy-just how I like it!

These would be so fun for any type of event, you could put them out for a BIG occasion, or you can have them on a nice night in just for two!  Here are a few examples of fun kits! (Click on the photo to see the kit)

And here are some fun recipes too!  (Click on the photo to see the recipe)

All in all, it was such a fun idea I'm sure I'll be trying more of these in the future! Especially for some awesome parties-these would be such a blast!

I Think You Call Me Sexy

This weekend was another less-documented one for me.  Friday night I tortured myself with two and a half hours at the Mall (I hate it regularly, let alone during the holidays where you are battling a constant barrage of vendors begging you to try their samples long enough to real you in and try and sell you the most expensive hair straightener you've ever seen-and even though you like it and they're offering you 4 freebies with it, you can't bring yourself to spend $300 when you have one that will do at home.) In order to pick up some new bras, hair stuff, skin stuff, and a new pair of boots for the winter.  You know, the necessary stuff.

By the time I got home and the house was dark and lonely, I decided I didn't want to be in it anymore-and thankfully there was an invite from the neighbors downstairs to go down, get drunk, and play games.  It turned out to be really fun hanging out with them!

Saturday evening we went to a party over at our friend Tia's house.  It was a lot of fun, and you-know-who/my crush/Frank joined for a while before we went back to his house to watch the 50th Anniversary episode of Doctor Who, which was fantastic.  I figured it was the time to finally try out my Nerd Lacquer I Think You Call Me Sexy with a messy manicure.

The 50th Anniversary Special was fantastic.  Lots of flashbacks to old seasons, other doctors and characters, and a lot of nostalgia.  Getting to watch it with someone I adore was even better.  I honestly have no idea where this is going, or how exactly he feels about me (which is always scary) but I'm trying not to think about it too much (because it's impossible not to think about it at all) and just enjoy liking him.  Enjoy how smiley I get just because he texts to see how I am.  It's nice to enjoy things, even if it's hard to push worry out of your end-it's worth it to try.

How was your weekend?

Til the Casket Drops {Musical Mondays & Giveaway}

What is Musical Mondays?
Musical Mondays is a weekly linky party where we share a song we're into for the week, and talk about why we like it-or why it effects us.  Along with talking about music, I host a month-long music related giveaway sponsored by wonderful people! November is sponsored by me!   Read on to see details!

This week's song:
Til the Casket Drops
by ZZ Ward

It was the coldest night of the year
Snow covered street lamps and Belvedere
The moon was just a sliver, the light was fading
The war was on it's way, and we were waiting

You asked me how long I'd stay by your side
So I answered with only just one reply

Til the casket drops
Til my dying days
Til my heartbeat stops
Til my legs just break
Oh whoa, oh whoa, oh whoa
Til the casket drops

A house made out of glass will surely shatter
So we built a fortress, red bricks and ladders
The ground started shaking, the bombs were falling
We could have walked away, we had a warning

You asked me how long I'd stay by your side
So I answered with only just one reply

Til the casket drops
Til my dying days
Til my heartbeat stops
Til my legs just break
Oh whoa, oh whoa, oh whoa
Til the casket drops

So lay your burden down baby, lead me out the door
We can't escape this ricochet, I'm ready for this war
So lay your burden down baby, lead me out the door
We can't escape this ricochet, I'm ready for this war

Til the casket drops
Til my dying days
Til my heartbeat stops
Til my legs just break
Oh whoa, oh whoa, oh whoa
Til the casket drops

My friend Jon-Michael recommended ZZ Ward, so I went and bought her album (it's only like $5.99 for the whole thing!) and it's so good!  When I chose this song I didn't even know it had anything to do with Pretty Little Liars until I watched the video.  I really like her sound, and the sound of this song!

What are you listening to this week? Link Up!
It can be anything music related, but if you link up your post MUST contain the button or a link back!
