Drowning {Musical Mondays & Giveaways}

What is Musical Mondays?
Musical Mondays is a weekly linky party where we share a song we're into for the week, and talk about why we like it-or why it effects us.  Along with talking about music, I host a (usually) month-long music giveaway.

The Weekly Round-Up: Live Your Own Life

Anna in Wonderland wrote a fantastic post about the pressures society, friends, and family place on women to have kids.  They're always trying to tell us what to do with our own reproductive organs and it's really not their place.  I liked her post, it was very well written and I agree with her.  Live your life, let me live mine.

Mrs. Tee Love Life Laughter wrote a post called Blogs Are So Last Year! in which she explains how a non-offense-meaning friend said that when she was talking about her blog.  I've had to explain my blogging to people before, and some people just don't get it.  They don't have to though-it's another case of you do what makes you happy, and I'll do what makes me happy, and we'll all just get along!

♥ Karen from A Peek at Karen's World is dating again, and in a much healthier way!  I am so proud of her, I just wanted to share her post-we should all be so smart about how we handle our love life!

♥ Shane from Whispering Sweet Nothings got really brave in her post Things I'm Afraid to Tell You, and I'm proud of her!  What a great way to show your real self to the world through your blog!

♥ Ashlie from Painting Bliss wrote an incredible post on slowing down and enjoying life! Great reminder for those of us that jam-pack it with way too much stuff and burn out from it all!

The Weekly Round-Up

Share your favorite reads this week!
The point of The Weekly Round-Up is to focus on other people instead of just another post about ourselves.  It's to build better community, share insight into what we love to read, and hopefully introduce you to a new blogger you'll love and adore!  Wanna play along?  Write a post with links to your favorite blog posts from others throughout the week, put the button in it, and link up with us on Sundays!

June Recap

My So-Called Chaos: June Recap

It's been a while since I gave you a life update, so here I am with a much-needed recap and some updates.

I've had a lot of great times and parties with friends this month that I just haven't had the time to write about! Instead, enjoy this visual recap of those times via my Instagram feed:

It's been oddly cold for Utah.  We had a couple of days in the 90s last week and turned on our swamp cooler finally, but the week before that it was raining and chilly all week, and last night was nice and chilly with gorgeous thunderstorms-which makes me very happy!

Mr. Bingo was in town from Oregon and his timing could not have been more perfect.  He's such a great friend and it was an awesome pick me up in a week I was feeling a little blue about coming to terms with the other relationship I was persuing not working out as planned.  Well, it took me exactly 5 days to get over that breakup, and seeing Mr. Bingo for an evening was awesome.  I'm already planning an Oregon visit in Oct.

My So-Called Chaos

I confess... I signed up for another swap... I know, I know, I'm addicted-but it's another book swap!  Sign-ups end on Monday the 30th, so if you want in on this one go and check it out!

I confess... I've been terrible about the gym this month.  I had a rough period and didn't go for a week, then Shawn and Justin were out of town and didn't go, then I had some other stuff come up... I need to not flake off so bad.  Starting next week I'm getting both diet and exercise under control and no more excuses!   Here's my "before" photo-even though it was a month in to working out and I actually like it a lot...

Health NOT to Health NUT

I confess... did finally see the doctor and have a full physical.  It turns out my foot problem is Plantar Fasciitis, which means the tendon in my foot is torn.  I'be been ordered to get good insoles with arch support, and to not even be barefoot around the house.  That's been a bummer, but I'm making due.

I confess... I also had to take care of some other things.  I had to have a mole removed on my neck (there are three stitches in there and it hurts!) and my doctor has requested I see a therapist about my anxiety issues.  Man, getting to be an adult and dealing with falling apart is no fun!  I've seen the doctor more times in the last month than I have in the past ten years... Which was probably part of the problem.

My work has been a great company to work for.  A week or so ago they actually brought beers and wine to work (along with the soda, juice, and snacks they usually bring) and treated us to them in the sunshine outside of the building.  That's sooooo rare for Utah, and nice!  Next week they're taking us to a movie.

I'm ready for a vacation though... It'd be nice to get away for a while.

My manicure this week is Aly's Dream Polish Pinkberry, and it's a pretty one!

Influenster #GoVoxBox

I received the Influenster GoVoxBox to review the products.  All opinions are 100% mine.   So far, this VoxBox has been the most useful I've received, as some of these products will definitely be put to good use-especially now with my new fitness and health plan!  Here is what I thought of each individual product:

Vitamin Shoppe Next Step Fit N Full Protein Shake:  I haven't had the chance to try these yet but they look really good.  I'm impressed with the packaging and the information on it, as well as the cute mixer cup!

Playtex Sport Fresh Balance:  I really like these!  I received a box in my last VoxBox and have since actually bought some of them as well!  They're comfortable and they stay in place without irritation!

Blue Diamond Blueberry Flavored Almonds:  These were delicious!  Such a great little snack that helps with your sweet tooth without being too many calories and still with the health benefits of almonds!

Aqua Spa Bath Salts:  These were PERFECT! I took a bath with them the other day and they smell lovely (Lavender) without being overpowering.  It was great to just soak in the bath and feel relaxed without an over-perfumed smell.  They were light and soft, and my skin felt great after!

ProFoot Pedi Rock:  I'd never tried a Pedi Rock before so after my bath I broke it out of the packaging and gave my feet a good rub down with it.  It did take off a lot of the rough spots, though it's not harsh enough to get the more problem areas.  I think if you keep up with your feet better and use this often it would be great.

ProFoot Triad Orthotic: This was seriously my favorite (and most used) thing in the box.  Recently I found out that my heel pain is from Planter Fasciitis and was told by my doctor that I need to be wearing inserts that cushion my arches better.  He also said that for at least the next few weeks/months I'm not allowed to be barefoot even walking around the house-that is a huge bummer for someone who loves being barefoot as much as I do.

I had already picked up some fancy inserts for my gym shoes a while back, so we went to a local sporting good store on the mission of finding something I could actually slip into my little shoes so I wasn't wearing my running shoes everywhere-including just from the couch to the bathroom.  I bought some gel inserts but they did not fit in the shoes (the size was totally off on the packaging) and ended up not being great.  Then I remembered I had these-and they're exactly what I needed!

They fit right in my little shoes without squishing my toes, and I've been wearing them for 3 days now and my heel pain has significantly decreased!  I'm totally taking the gel ones back and will probably buy from ProFoot in the future-they're perfect!   The only thing I'm worried about is squishing them so they flatten out after a while, since they're pretty much all foam-but it hasn't happened yet so here's hoping!
