This week's song:
Little Talks
Of Monsters and Men
Her: I don't like walking around this old and empty house
Him: So hold my hand, I'll walk with you my dear
Her: The stairs creak as I sleep, it's keeping me awake
Him: It's the house telling you to close your eyes
Her: And some days I can't even trust myself
Him: It's killing me to see you this way
Together: 'Cause though the truth may vary, this ship will carry our bodies safe to shore
HEY, HEY, HEY!
Her: There's an old voice in my head that's holding me back
Him: Well tell her that I miss our little talks
Her: Soon it will be over, buried with our past
Him: We used to play outside when we were young and full of life, and full of love
Her: Some days I don't know if I am wrong or right
Him: Your mind is playing tricks on you my dear
Together:
'Cause though the truth may vary, this ship will carry our bodies safe to shore
Don't listen to a word I say, HEY!
The screams all sound the same, HEY!
And though the truth may vary, this ship will carry our bodies safe to shore.
You're gone, gone, gone away-I watched you disappear
All that's left is the ghost of you
Now it's torn, torn, torn apart-there's nothing we can do
Just let me go, we'll meet again soon
Now wait, wait, wait for me-please hang around
I'll see you when I fall asleep
Don't listen to a word I say, HEY!
The screams all sound the same, HEY!
And though the truth may vary, this ship will carry our bodies safe to shore.
Don't listen to a word I say, HEY!
The screams all sound the same, HEY!
And though the truth may vary, this ship will carry our bodies safe to shore.

I am totally in love with this song lately not only with the lyrics but with the fantastic big band sound and their voices! According to Wikipedia "Of Monsters and Men is a six piece indie folk/indie pop band from Reykjavík, Iceland." Aren't they great?
Personally, even though their are two people (one male and one female) I feel like this entire song is someone's internal dialogue in their head. I don't know about you guys, but I constantly have this argument in my head. The optimist in me trying to encourage myself and push me forward while battling the pessimist that quietly whispers that I am not good enough. I think this song portrays that very well and I relate; I love it!
So what are you listening to this week?

This is a great song! I especially love his voice. Although I must admit that the video creeped me out a little! Thanks for sharing!
ReplyDeleteAlso, I hope it's okay that I linked my post even though my post isn't ONLY about the new music I found this weekend.

Ooooo, I keep hearing about these guys but I hadn't heard their stuff yet. I like it, I like it a lot!
ReplyDeleteI just discovered these guys a couple nights ago, and the album inspired me to actually do a Musical Monday again.
ReplyDeleteI love this song, and the video! It definitely sounds like internal dialogue to me, and also that kernel between best friends. :)
ReplyDeleteThe radio station I listen to has been playing this song for months now, long before their album was released. I love it. I have their new album, bought it the day it was released but oddly, I haven't sat down to listen to it yet.
