Have you watched Orange is the New Black yet? I don't know how they do it, but Netflix is pretty good at their shows. I mean Hemlock Grove was weird as hell, but it still sucked you in so you kept watching in order to find out what on earth was going on (hello, still confused even after the finale? Me too!) I have only seen a little of Lily Hammer, and none of the other shows they produce, but Orange is the New Black was spectacular. I'm not even kidding.
I mean come on. It's made by the same guy who made Weeds (Jenji Kohan), and the cast is truly fantastic. Do you see Captain Janeway (Star Trek Voyager) there? She's practically queen of the prison with her crazy red hair Russian accent. Then you have these other fantastic actresses that you recognize from other shows, and even a few of the actors from Weeds. I was excited to see Michael Harney and a little disturbed to see how he took Pablo Schreiber from the sexy eye candy (Demetri in Weeds) to the ridiculous mustache-wielding guard (Mendez in Orange is the New Black). Also, they actually cast a transgender person to play the transgender person-that's fantastic!
I loved this show, and I found myself sad when it ended-especially since it had a cliffhanger ending. You really came to love certain characters, and hate certain characters (you-know-who-meth-head-jesus-freak). Luckily it's already in the works for a second season!
When the opening song came on Josh and I both went "Is that Regina Spektor?" and it was. The song is fantastic too, so I'm sharing it with you today for Musical Mondays. If you'd like to see the intro they dreamed up to go with it, here it is:
