I did a post like this last year and it was fun, so I figured I'd better do one like it now. Books are awesome, and as we roll over a year I'm excited to do more reading and even more listening to audio books! Last year I set a goal of 20 books for the year and just barely made it at exactly 20 books. This year I'm upping it, and my goal is 25 books. I can't up it too much, since I'll be in school all year long (taking classes all three semesters this year) and most of my reading will be school related.

ReplyDeleteI want to read Allie Brosch's book this year. I love her blog (when she writes) and have heard great things about her book.
My to-read list includes all the Outlander novels (well, I'm on The Fiery Cross now), anything Karina Halle releases, and anything Lili St. Germain puts out (I accidentally bought the first of her Gypsy Brothers series, Seven Sons, but I am so glad I did!) Plus there's the slew of music autobiographies and such that I still haven't read. I am a slow, slow reader these days.

ReplyDeleteI am aiming to read 100 books this year -- I had a hard time with 75 last year so I have no clue what I am thinking, but I love reading. I will definitely be checking out a lot of the books on your lists!
ReplyDeleteAs someone who was once heavily active in the BDSM community, I could go on for days about the inaccuracies and horrible categorizations that 50 Shades of Gray puts D/s and BDSM in general. That book is pure smut and it paints people like myself who have a strong, submissive urge as broken and somehow in need of healing... as if I need a man. Newsflash: I don't... of course. lol
ReplyDeleteI haven't read The Sleeping Beauty series but friends I have in the community have praised it, suggesting it is far more accurate and paints an appropriate picture of what D/s really is and means. I think I need to find some time to read it.
I hate that I read ZERO books in 2014. Narcolepsy makes getting comfortable and reading a book very difficult. :(
I noticed a couple of weeks ago that a series I read 1 book of several years ago around the time I first read Divergent (they are similar in ideas) has had a couple of books added to it. I'd definitely like to read them. I also really am determined to finish the Beautiful Creatures series at some point. Blah I need more time for book reading!
oh I find it so interesting looking at what other bloggers are reading, I haven't read nearly as much last year as I would have liked. I blame it on all the reading of blogs actually! I wouldn't mind reading Blog inc, is that good? Also, audio books, I've been thinking about those lately, do you listen to them In the car? or with headphones? x
ReplyDeleteBlog Inc looks like it has a lot of good stuff in it, but I haven't done much reading yet of it. I know that A Beautiful Exchange (http://www.abeautifulexchangeblog.com/) was reading it and sharing some of the concepts on her blog and they all looked good!
ReplyDeleteI do both. At work I listen with headphones, in the car I run it through my stereo, and when I'm at home I just put it on using the phone speakers. :)
Surprisingly enough I participated in the BDSM community a couple times. Man we do have a bit in common don't we? While ultimately it wasn't something I wanted to remain a part of, I can see exactly where the 50 shades come from and have had no desire to read it. I didn't even really care to read the Ann Rice book, but I got a signed copy and my friend and I were both talking about it and so I did. It was... Well, she was like 15 and that made it all seem pretty wrong with everything that was being written, even if historically they were much younger back then. It also wasn't heavily consensual, which bothered me.
