★★★★★ What I Thought:
I first became aware of John Green due to The Fault in Our Stars as so many have recently, and after reading The Fault in Our Stars in less than a day I decided that I had better pick up some of his other novels. Paper Towns is the second book of his that I took the time for, and like it's predecessor, I finished the book in about a day. This time, I listened to the audio book-and was so enthralled in the story of Margot and what I thought was going to happen (I was wrong, slightly) that I continued to listen to the book for the rest of the day and found myself just sitting there listening instead of doing other things.
This story was touching, and I feel like John Green has a way of reaching deep and saying very profound things in the most simple way possible. It feels like YA writing... But then it doesn't. What a unique talent!
I'd recommend the read-it's definitely interesting to hear the different views on paper towns and paper girls, and the strings that hold us together.
This is the second good review I have read on this book! I am going to have to pick it up :)

ReplyDeleteive read a few of his (an Abundance of Katherines and Looking for Alaska) but i havent had a chance to read this one. I like his style, but there is something very similar about all his books, despite them not being on the same characters etc.

ReplyDeleteLoved Paper Towns...if not just a little more than Fault in Our Stars. I stayed up all night to read it in one sitting, and now I can't wait until the movie!

ReplyDeleteOh cool! I'm reading Dark Places by Gillian Flynn right now and that one has a movie coming out at the end of the year too. lol I also have The Martian on my list....which also just so happens to have a movie coming out this year. hahaha!
ReplyDeleteYou have a good point, there really is something similar-maybe it's just the way he writes it but you feel like the characters are a part of the other story, maybe just off to the side or something. I agree.
