It's a little strange that all my favorite holiday songs are melancholy. Oh well, I guess they express that old familiar longing that Christmas time brings around. Holiday parties with all your siblings and their spouses, cousin's with brand new babies, and wonderful homes... Reminds us single people of all of the things we're missing out on...
Oh well, here's to another year and hopefully next Christmas I'll be more on my way to having all that.
I had this conversation with a (single) friend of mine yesterday. Sure, I have kids but with them around, I often feel invisible. That's fine for them because they get the attention and they understand but sometimes it still stinks. I'm the only single one in my family (which REALLY sucked when my brothers got married and I couldn't even get a date to the wedding)... Sometimes I look at my single friends and say "I don't have the freedom they have" while they look at me and say "I want children". When it comes down to it, I think we all just need to try to be happy in ourselves... even though sometimes it just plain SUCKS.

I can't participate right now because I haven't paid my webhosting fee, so my blog is down. :( Ah well.
ReplyDeleteWe loved seeing you this weekend! Your time will come (I say this with sincere love), and then it will be your turn to host all the craziness!
