I love John Stewart.
I kind of want to marry the man sometimes.
Just sometimes...

It's a little long, but stick with it-the last minute or so is the BEST.
DADT is all but dead, and I feel like celebrating.
It's a step in the right direction.
So here's my little celebration.
Be who you are.
Let others be who they are.
If you follow
Jesus: Love one another.
The golden rule: Do unto others as you would have done unto you.
The Beatles: All you need is love.
If you feel like celebrating with me, wherever you are, raise a glass.
I love you all dearly.

Yea! I'm very happy about this as well. The "cartoon" of the caskets made me cry when I first saw it this year. Its so true.
ReplyDeleteWe shall see how this all plays out. I just think that anyone who wants to serve and is capable, should be able to.
Many of the folks who wanted to keep DADT, probably never even served. Who are they to keep out folks who want to serve their country?
The casket cartoon really hits it home doesn't it?!? The soldiers, whatever their orientation, stand and serve and die for their country.

And really - who'd business IS it who they love? Does it change how effective they are as a soldier? Does it change the fact they die to uphold freedom?

I completely agree with you both!
ReplyDeleteI raise my glass in celebration too. It's about time they repealed DADT!
ReplyDeleteI read about this first on your blog and I think it's awesome!
ReplyDeleteYay!
ReplyDeleteI'm excited. I actually know someone who is gay, and in the military. His sexual preferences don't effect his ability to fight for his country. So, it's about time. Yay!
