RTT: Can I Just Go Home and Bake?

It's Tuesday, so you know what that means right?  Yep, Random Tuesday Thoughts brought to you by the charming Canadian Keely...  She's funny, you should check her out and read the other random thoughts linked back to her blog.

Let's start the randomness!

*Last Thursday I was stood up by Travis.  Now I should have known better than to give him another chance.  We dated a few years ago, and he just stopped calling one day.  A year later he started texting me again, and then we proceeded to play this game of meeting up and going out a couple times, and then he'd disappear again. Last summer he stood me up twice.  This time he promised he wouldn't again, but guess who magically disappeared when we were supposed to have plans?  That's right.

*If you can't play in the big leagues, go back to T-ball.

*Also, I was supposed to meet up with E last night for sushi.  He set a time (which is abnormal) and I gave him directions to pick me up, and he never showed.  Again, I should have known better than to be swayed by the thought that people deserve another chance because they may have had other circumstances.  That's the absolute last time he stands me up, because I don't need any more flakey friends.  I deserve better.

*I bought groceries last night, and I'm stoked about them!  Does that sound dull?  Well it isn't, because I bought baking supplies!  I'm so excited to start doing more baking!  I tried making bread in the machine (from a box) last night, and it turned out pretty good... Could be better, but practice makes perfect right?

*I'm really annoyed with some of my coworkers right now.  I know I really shouldn't be, but I'm really very sick today and I'm actually here working.  To top it off, it's really busy, and that's probably because there are so many of them gone... I understand taking a mental health day, but good timing people, let's all do it the same day.  It's craptastic.

*Tonight I'm going to make Sweet Corn Cake, which I found via Blue Cricket Designs.  How exciting!

*Menu for tomorrow?  Cal zones!  Which I'm adapting from the Hot Pocket recipe I found on My Kitchen Misadventures.  I'm really on a cooking kick, can you tell?

*Lately at work, I've been a doodling fiend!  Maybe I should get back into art?  I'll leave you with some pictures of my desk, notice all my sticky notes with inspirations and doodles.  I've also been drawing things on sticky notes and giving them to my coworkers.  It's been fun!

  1. Thanks for visiting my blog - stop back again some time.

Wow - your friends need a kick in the ass. How rude to make plans and not keep them.

Good luck with the baking. I cannot bake to save my life, but I love to cook.

  2. I wish I liked to bake more. It's just one of those things I can't get into.

Thanks for visiting my blog! Love the doodles, too!

  3. A little common courtesy is nice when someone decides not to show up for a date or event. At least call and let me know you're not going to show up. My feelings anyway.
My co-workers irritate me sometimes too. We work together and see each other all the time. It's good in that we have bonds and get along for the most part. It's bad in that we get on each other's nerves easily and judge each other harshly. Happy RTT!

  4. I've been getting more into baking too. Makes me nervous because I'm always afraid it will kill the family, my track record is not the best, but after I got the Pioneer Woman cookbook? I've been a kitchen kvetch!

  5. Love the doodles! I could always use more coffee!

I totally agree with you - get rid of those flaky friends! There's nothing worse than inconsiderate people.

Thanks for stopping by Lemon Drop Pie!

  6. Wish you could come cook for me. I am inept in the kitchen. It's sad.

Love those affirmations!! The doodles are great too!

    Have a happy Tuesday!

  8. You need to your "independent woman" post-it note and cut loose the deadwood guys who stand you up! Baking's probably more fun than them anyway!

  9. Buying groceries has always made be feel better. There's something exhilerating about saying, "Fuck you, world! I'm going to cook and take care of myself without your help."

  11. Dump Travis! Really! No more chances! If I could doodle like you, I'd be doodling all the time too. That's not doodling! It's art!

I love your baking stuff! I like the end product the best!

    Happy Tuesday!

  12. Sorry about work.

If it makes you feel better (I know it won't) I was in so much pain I couldn't even crawl out of bed until 2pm. I still feel bad you were so slammed and I wasn't there to help though.

  13. I'm slowly working my way around the baking universe, although I prefer to leave that to my wife. I'm much better making dinner.

  14. I used to do a LOT of doodling when I worked. Now I rarely have the time, just goes to show how challenged I was working in an office, when I spent a bulk of my time cartooning on my calendar.

Good luck with the baking. Mmmm.

And thanks for stopping by yesterday.

  16. I really like this idea of random thoughts on Tuesdays. You inspire me with such posts, but don't think I can assimilate my thoughts enough to write one like this, so I shall enjoy reading them here.

Why are you such a nice person? I wouldn't give anyone many chances if I knew it was a tradition for them to not keep promises. That's pathetic. By the way, let us know how the sweet corn cake baking experiment came by.
