Hello lovely readers! Today I want to introduce you to this pretty lady-Jamie from North of Something. It has been such a pleasure getting to know this lovely lady and her blog, and I'm so grateful she decided to sponsor me because she's definitely become a new friend. I love her blog, and her style of writing, and her all around great personality and cheerful smile. I asked Jamie some questions so we can get to know her better, have a look:
Winter is fast approaching, what does Winter look like where you are? Do you like it?
I'm currently visiting family in Seattle and the leaves have been GORGEOUS this fall! I forgot how beautiful the trees are when they change colors. Some trees have yellow, red, green, and brown leaves - all on the same tree! I don't love the cold creeping in, but I just got a fabulous winter coat for the first time in forever and it is so warm and cozy I almost get excited when I have to go out in the early morning frost. Almost.
What's your favorite way to spend a Winter's evening?
A wood fire, fleece blanket, hot chocolate, and a great new book would make a perfect winter evening for me.
How do you celebrate Thanksgiving? Any big plans this year?
My dad and his two sisters own a restaurant in eastern Washington and every year they shut down the restaurant to have a big family Thanksgiving dinner. We cook a TON of food and we have lots of beer on draft. It's always nice to see all the Aunts, Uncles, cousins and any new babies that have been born that year. Unfortunately I can't go this year (waaaahh!!) but I will be there in spirit.
What's your favorite food to eat for Thanksgiving dinner?
Since I'm a vegetarian everyone thinks I'm going to starve at Thanksgiving dinner, but the truth is there is always SO much food I always manage to get just as stuffed as everyone else! My favorite festive dish is green bean casserole, but I especially enjoy eating pie with coffee for breakfast the next morning.
Do you have a favorite outfit/accessory you look forward to wearing for Winter holidays?
I have been living in Hawaii for the past 2 and a half years, so I'm really looking forward to wearing boots, sweaters, and scarves this winter.
Are you a reader? If so, what is your favorite book?
My favorite fun read lately was Gone Girl, and I got to see the movie this past weekend - holy smokes! I also really enjoyed Almost Somewhere by Suzanne Roberts, which I read for one of my classes over the summer. All time favorite goes to Tolstoy's Anna Karenina.
If you're a reader, what are you drinking when curled up? Coffee? Tea? Wine?
I'm loving chai tea right now.
What's on your holiday wishlist this year?
In a perfect world I would love a new macbook air, but in real life I'm hoping for some new winter clothes and maybe a facial!

ReplyDeleteI had always wondered how vegetarians fared on thanksgiving. It makes sense. My favorite dish at thanksgiving is vegetarian, but not vegan... it is a sweet potato, apple and parsnip gratin and that alone will fill a gal up. Sorry you'll miss your big family dinner.

OMG READ Gone Girl. Seriously. I read it and at first I was mildly interested until it starts picking up with the plot line and you just stare at it like "WTF?!?!" and the movie was so good too!

ReplyDeleteOH i will def read the book before watching the movie, even though it's suppose to be nicely made too. I find it always a different experience from when you read the story yourself & let your imagination fly. One you've seen the movie, you're stuck with the actors faces forever.

ReplyDeleteHow fun that we have the same taste in books!! I was so disappointed in the Anna Karenina movie that came out a couple years ago... did you see it? I had such high hopes, but I guess it's hard to fit so much story into a 2 hour movie :( And yes you should definitely read Gone Girl!! I stayed up until 3 in the morning twice while reading it. Any my husband said I woke him up by grabbing his arm, squeezing really hard, and screaming something in the middle of my sleep. LOL!

ReplyDeleteHe was a guard on the street, so a bit of a distance away from anything important. I asked if we could take a picture with him and he just smiled a little (They aren't supposed to talk or look at people while on duty.) So I took the smile as a yes! :)

ReplyDeleteGone Girl was such a jaw-dropping movie! I'm glad you liked it. And yes definitely crack open Anna Karenina! If you get confused with the characters just look up a character key online. My edition has character guide in the front and it was so helpful to keep track of everyone!
ReplyDeletehaha we were in London! And he was totally a good sport. We asked him first and he smiled so we took it as a yes :) He seemed young and kind of proud that he was getting the attention. I think their job can be boring most of the time!
