Okay, I had never before heard of Inkshares but I am digging on this idea! It's like a Kickstarter for books-you can basically submit your novel to be crowd-funded so you can get it published! AMAZING! I love that we can help support more new up and coming authors-we need to keep reading a priority in society this society that's obsessed with internet/movies/tv/etc.
On that note, we have a fantastic opportunity to back this upcoming novel:
On that note, we have a fantastic opportunity to back this upcoming novel:
What would life be like if the Nazis had won WWII and successfully invaded the United States?
The Nazis have won WWII (or as it is now known, The Greatest War) almost 70 years ago. Having established an Elite class of descendants of former leaders during WWII, Stella Goering, great-granddaughter of Hitler's right-hand man, Hermann Goering, enjoys a privileged life in the capital of city of New Berlin (formerly New York City). There, citizens of the Reich live happily without the burdens of the racially inferior who have since become extinct. As a daughter of the Elite, Stella has attained celebrity status. But she finds the bright lights and magazine write ups a constant distraction from her self-imposed destiny of serving the Reich as a doctor. She even finds the yearly ritual of all citizens testing their blood for purity more of a nuisance than a patriotic gesture. And as a daughter of the Elite, she must have it done publicly, in front of all of Germania.
But this year, Stella's tests are showing something she never expected: her genes link her to a race she thought was long extinct: the Jews. Convinced this is a plot from the Japanese to destroy the Reich's confidence in its leaders, Stella relies blindly on the Elite to protect her until the situation can be proved a conspiracy; otherwise she will be punished by death. After all, the Reich has always protected her. But Stella quickly learns that what's true and false in the Reich isn't so black and white and that those she's always trusted don't always have her best interest at heart...
Upon discovering her "contaminated" Jewish genes, Stella finds that those she always thought to be extinct are still thriving in a thought to be uninhabited part of the country. Known as the remnants, or the surviving remnant of their respective cultures, they have formed a society based on both continuing their cultures, evading the Nazis and working to defeat the Reich. With their help, she discovers both her true identity and what it means to fight to stay alive in a world where simply being who you are is punishable by death. After joining their ranks, she must join in the fight against everything she has ever known.
How it works: With the funds raised, Inkshares will match the author with a professional editor from a top publishing house, help design the cover, market the book to the general public and perform all of the services of a traditional publisher (including placing the book for sale in major retail stores). The funds will also minimally compensate for the time I have already spent on the book--although it is VERY minimal when considering the amount of time I have already invested on the book. The majority of the funds will be going toward the publication of The Remnants. If I succeed, I will be on the forefront of a very exciting publishing model and joining the ranks of Daniel Wallace, author of Big Fish.
There are a few different pre-order options, check them out HERE.

this sounds like a book I'd love! I plan on helping when I get paid!
