You've lived a lot of places, but where are you from originally? Where were you born?
That's true, I have been traveling the world quite a lot. Originally I'm from mother Russia, where I was born in Moscow back in the days when there was still a Soviet Union.
How did you end up where you are in Germany? Do you like it?
After the fall of the Berlin Wall, my parents decided to pursue a better life and moved to Germany, where we all still live to this day. I basically grew up here and consider Europe in general to be my home. I don't carry patriotic feelings to either one of the countries, which allows me to live where my heart and family is.
Do you have any plans to move to another metropolis? If so, when?
For now I'm happy here in Berlin, where I have access to culture in form of art and theater, education in general, night life, and nature-like lakes and even small forests. But if I ever moved, I'd love to go to Mexico City. I love my Mexican friends, their spirit, their take on life, food, enormous history, and just the open friendly way. I've been there before, but it was definitely too short.
For someone who's never met you before, what is the first thing they'd notice about you?
Ok, now that's a hard one. My freckles? My always painted nails? I'm actually easy to get to know, as traveling the world and having friends from simply everywhere has taught me to be open-minded, respect other opinions, be friendly, and smile more-it opens my heart to strangers.
How about your blog? What do you feel someone's first impression of your blog would be?
Oh this is something I would like to hear from you and your lovely readers, since I just moved my blog to a self-hosted site a few days ago and changed the look of my blog. I was going for a feminine-but-professional style, hoping that with a little time and a few more changes here and there I would achieve that goal.
What made you become interested in beauty and blogging about it?
I have been interested in beauty as long as I can remember. My mom was always taking good care of herself, using face creams, mascaras, and blushes. So when I was allowed to wear makeup I just went for it like nobody's business.
It became more serious when I started watching videos on YouTube back in 2006 and discovered Koren from Encore Makeup, JulieG from julieg713, and Julie from MissChevious. They have taught me all the great professional tips, like using brushes for makeup application and blending techniques for eye-shadow.
At some point I knew I wanted to be part of the beauty community, but wasn't sure about making videos. So finally autumn last year I made the decision to start blogging and have not regretted it since.
What is your daily beauty regimen?
In the mornings I wash my face with either a washing lotion or face scrub. Afterwards, I apply my eye cream, my quenching serum, followed by a moisturizer with SPF. In the evening I prefer using all-in-one makeup removing cleansing wipes first and then wash my face with a gentle foam to get the rest off. Of course I can't go to bed without a good night cream, and if you're asking what I'm using at the moment, it's the Vinosourse line from Caudalie. I especially like their S.O.S thirst-quenching serum and the moisturizing sorbet.
If you could only have one beauty supply for the rest of your life, what would it be?
Oh what a mean question to ask a beauty blogger! I think I would go with a really great moisturizer, since before anything else you need to have a clean and smooth canvas to work with. So I would pick skincare before decorative cosmetics.
What beauty advice do you have for my readers?
I'm not going to tell you to drink more water and get enough sleep, since these are obvious things for everyone on this planet. My beauty advice, which I'm trying to hold on myself, is always remove your makeup before going to sleep. Your skin is going to thank you for it in the long run!
