Chocolate Mint, Mother's Day, and Happiness.

This weekend was pretty laid-back, which is always nice.  Friday night we had Bingo, and it was good to see Julie since we don't see her very much anymore.

Saturday I slept way in, and then we got up and went and got donuts for breakfast.  I know, that's terrible but it's been so long since I had a donut! Everyone deserves a little cheat now and then.  We mostly relaxed for a few hours, then met Shawn for Pho before going and hunting down a Mother's Day gift for Josh's mom.  While doing so, I managed to find myself a new little plant to adopt-so I've happily added some Chocolate Mint to the west window.  Here's hoping it makes the house smell lovely when the sun hits it!

Sunday Josh and Max (who has been crashing on our couch) both left early, and I was so excited to have a little alone time I managed to get a bunch of stuff done.  I ran to the grocery store, deep cleaned the whole kitchen, and repotted some plants that needed to make a big move.  I also managed to get all caught up on Revenge while enjoying coffee out of the disappearing Tardis mug Josh got me for my birthday.  Yum!

Then Sunday night I made the trek down to my grandmother's for the Mother's Day BBQ.  It was very nice hanging out with my family and celebrating my momma and grandma.  Also nice playing frisbee with my little brother-especially since he had shoulder surgery so we could only play lightly.  I only busted 2 fingernails instead of all of them! haha

Other things making me happy this week:

• I'm working on a new design for Art @ Home and am loving it so far!
• I'm talking to a new guy... Meeting someone new is always scary and exciting.  I'm all about experience and learning new things, and a new person in my life brings those things! Who knows what will happen, but at least I'm putting myself out there right? Right. lol  So we probably are going to go out this week-and we have a mutual friend who assures me he's not a serial killer or anything.
• I'm probably buying a Canon T3i in the next few weeks.  I am so ready for a DSLR! 
• There are so many awesome giveaways happening here on the blog still.  See the sidebar for details! 
• The gorgeous Jolene from With a Little Help from My Friends was taking pictures, and took a "tribute" picture for me... Not only is she pretty, but she totally cracks me up.  Look, I'll put them side by side-and I even draw myself that way lol!

Manicures, Weenies, Nail Polish, & Spending Money

Where am I? Why is this post so late?  Oh man, I feel like I'm losing my mind... So many things to do, and so many more I want to do.  It's like all of those things I'm putting off are in the back of my head yelling "Do me now!" while new ideas are bursting through at the same time.  Holy. Cow. At least my creative juices are flowing-it would be worse (I think) to be sitting here with no ideas.

This weekend wasn't super eventful, but it was a good one.  Friday night Julie came over and we grabbed takeout from Costa Vida then went home and started watching the 4th season of RuPaul's drag race.  Julie and I gave ourselves manicures and Jon & Meggy came over for a few beers and watched with us.  RuPaul's Drag Race, good friends, and nail polish all make me happy.

Saturday morning we got up and went for brunch at a little local place called The Lazy Day Cafe.  Their lemon pancakes are to die for-I seriously want them again.  They made me happy.

Sunday I went out and spent way too much money.  I've heard it said that we work ourselves to death as Americans and then go out and blow all the money we worked so hard for in an effort to relieve stress.  Yep.  Definitely what I did on Sunday.  We ran to the mall because the roommate wanted to go to H&M, so I went to Sephora to pick up my birthday gift (free Benefit They're Real! mascara and a Benefit Watt's Up Highlighter stick!) and ended up buying a tube of Benefit Boo Boo Zap which is supposed to help with acne.   I'm excited to try it.  Trying new beauty stuff makes me happy.  So does free stuff.

Well, while I was there I remembered that I was about out of Aveda's Damage Remedy (which I use every single day) so I swung by for some of that, and also grabbed a bottle of Aveda's Be Curly Curl Enhancer to try.  Love it so far.  Well then we stopped at Target... Grabbed some Peach Baby Lips, and found that their scarves were all 50% off so I ended up buying three only to come home and find out I owned all three colors I'd chosen... So I will be giving some of them away here on the blog soon! haha!  Aveda makes me happy.

Then I went to TJ Maxx with Julie where I fell in love with a suitcase... Which ended up being way too big for carry on which is what I need.  So I'm thinking I might get this one, what do you think?

So yeah... I spent way too much money and I think I'm going to spend more to buy new luggage for this trip... Oh well. I can't help it if buying pretty things makes me happy...

My Weekend In Photos

For the most part my weekend was pretty relaxed.  I spent time with the roommate, with our friend Ortie, and with Julie-then on Sunday went to a BBQ at my grandmother's house for Easter.  I also got a TON of happy mail!  I love receiving swap goodies and other random orders in the mail!  I also got some good crafting and a photoshoot in, more on that later today!

Drag Queens, Babies, & Weight Watchers

This weekend was full of fun.  Friday night the roommate and I just stayed in watching movies to prepare for the upcoming activities all weekend.  Saturday was the annual Utah Cyber Sluts fun bus to wendover, they're the group we volunteer at bingo for.  So we had a quick breakfast and then met up with the group down to the FOE.  We had the roommate, Julie, Julie's parents, the roommate's grandmother and her friend Joycie, and Ortie and John.  It was a good time. Drunk by noon, gambling, free stuff, drag queens-you know!

Sunday Kristina brought the baby down and spent the day.  It'd been too many weeks since I've seen them, so I was so happy that they came down!  We mostly just hung out and played with the baby while watching movies.

On another Note, Kristina and I joined Weight Watchers together.  I'm still not entirely sure how it's different from just monitoring your calories and stuff, but I've heard so many success stories lately that I figured I'd give it a try.  It's something I haven't done before, and hey-Kristi is being my buddy so we can keep each other motivated!   

Here was our deal:

• Stick to WW for the 3 months without cheating or giving up.
• Workout at least twice a week.
• Text each other throughout the day to check in.

I really hope this keeps us motivated and working towards it.  I've already started noticing where I need to make changes even with what I thought was healthy before, and I bought a cute little basket to keep fruit on right at my desk at work.
