What inspired your love of makeup and beauty products?
My love of makeup and beauty products comes from my mom. When I was younger, I loved playing in her makeup, and as I got older she began buying some things for me. It really took off when I was around 16 or so. I wasn't any good at makeup, but I wanted to learn all about it and I've never looked back.
What is your go-to makeup regimen?
My go-to makeup regimen begins with moisturizer because it's the most important thing you can do for your skin. On a daily basis, I keep it simple with a BB cream, light bronzer & smudged eyeliner. Mascara and tinted brow gel are a must, with a brighter matte lip color. Weekends are when I really go for the flawless look, and on those nights I experiment with brighter/smokier eyeshadow colors.
If you were told to only use three beauty products for the rest of your life, what would they be?
If I could only use three beauty products, it would be BB cream, mascara and tinted lip balm.
Dampen your foundation brush! It makes the biggest difference. Obviously, Beauty Blenders perform much better if they're damp, but if you dampen your foundation brush with something like MAC Fix+ before applying foundation, it helps it to go on smoother, blend more easily, last longer and you use less foundation but you get the same coverage. It keeps you from getting cake face, and it's the best tip I can give anyone who has dry skin.
How did you get started blogging and what keeps you doing it?
I was sitting in my room one day after receiving my very first package from Nyx Cosmetics and it occurred to me that maybe other people would like to know if these products are worth buying or not, and I started my blog the next day. I had no idea that other people did this and I had no clue what I was doing. I continue blogging because I love it. I love sharing makeup looks I've created, tips and tricks I've learned and my thoughts on the latest products.
What is the best blogging tip you've ever received?
Don't focus on the numbers! You won't have 1,000 followers after a day. It's something that takes time and work. If you're constantly focused on how many people are following and pageviews, you're going to get discouraged. It takes time to build followers, and loyal, interactive followers are even harder to come by. Yes, if you want to monetize the numbers are important, but it shouldn't be a priority when you start out. Have fun & build your followers slowly.
I spend a lot of time watching makeup tutorials on Youtube and browsing Sephora, because I can't help myself, but I'm also a full time college students, a part-time employee at the college, as well as a wife and mother to 8 fur-babies. I'm attending school for web design and I'm a teacher's aid. Outside of blogging, school and work, I read quite a bit. I'm a Netflix addict, and I play video games. I'm working on improving my photography skills as well. I'm surprisingly busy, and I wouldn't change it.
