Today I am very excited to introduce you to my super awesome bloggy friend Erica, from Silly Socks n' Things. I've been lucky enough to interact with this lovely lady on Facebook many times, so I was extra happy to also have her on my sidebar. She's a fantastic bloggy buddy, and I love her blog! She rocks the plus-sized fashion-and she's totally my inspiration for what to wear!
So I asked her some questions so we could get to know her a little bit better, ready? Here goes!
When did you start blogging?
October 2012.
What is your favorite thing about blogging?
Sharing my experiences and connecting with others who have similar interests.
Where do you get your inspiration from?
My kids, family, books, other bloggers, and my head. I have a very random mind and it goes 100mph.
When you're feeling blue, what's one thing you do to cheer yourself up?
SHOP!
Where is your favorite place to shop?
Torrid. Their clothes are amazing and they make me feel hip!
Why is beauty and fashion important to you?
Because I'm a plus size woman and on top of that I had the worst self esteem in my 20's. The toxic and mentally abusive relationship I was in didn't help either. I always felt like I wasn't worthy enough to look beautiful or shop for nice clothes. To me the definition of beauty was to be thin. I still struggle with self esteem but it's not as bad as it was and I'm also in a very happy healthy marriage. Losing weight and being healthy is a goal I still want to accomplish. But on my way there I can still look and feel beautiful!
When you're not blogging, what's something you do with your free time?
Read, and if I'm not reading I watch a movie with the family.
What's one piece of advice you'd offer to other bloggers?
Stay true to yourself. I'm still considered a new blogger and I don't have a big audience like most bloggers. There were times I felt really discouraged and started to think what can I blog about that will attract more bloggers? I didn't like how I was thinking and I took a break from blogging. When I started to miss it, I realized that I had the most fun when I was being my genuine self. Don't lose sight of who you really are.

ReplyDeleteGood choice. I am obsessed with their fall lines... It seems like each year there's something different and I love it all... Sweet Cinnamon Pumpkin, Leaves, Pumpkin Marshmallow, etc.

ReplyDeleteI am always inspired by stories where women, like Erica, turn something negative into something brilliant. I love that she embraces her curves and has found fashion that works for her. I am still learning how to dress that way, and that is why I am so in awe over Miss Angie and Erica, who show us curvy girls, how to work it! I have a Torrid store in my area and NEVER knew it had clothes tailored for plus size women! So, I'm excited about the possibility of winning a gift card. Either way, I do plan to stop by and see what they have. Too bad you ladies don't live near me...otherwise, I'd have to go with ya'll!
