Okay... Is the suspense killing you yet? Because it's totally killing me. I've made a special button for each and every winner here-and provided the code so you can put it on your blog if you want! :) They are 500x500 by default, but you can change it in the coding by changing the width="500" height="500" part of the code to say whatever size you need in pixels.
Are you ready?
Am I dragging this out enough?
I'm not sure...
Okay fine!
But you'll have to click "Read More" to continue. ;) (unless you're already in the post)

ReplyDeleteThere really are!
ReplyDeleteI'm so scared to break this down and look at it. But it's something I seriously need to do - what a great post to show how you organize your spending.
ReplyDeleteGood for you! And best of luck. It takes vigilance and patience with yourself but you CAN ABSOLUTELY change your spending habits. When Stace and I were both unemployed, we had to take a long, hard look at our spending habits. And we've stuck with them, for the most part, ever since (once you fully accept a life change, it makes no sense to revert back for no reason). Our biggest way to cut spending was not going out to eat more than once/week (you can save soon much money if you cook at home, as one package of ingredients can provide an element in 2-6 meals. We also comparison shopped at the nearest 6 grocery stories- I wrote down the price of milk, cheese, beef, chicken, peanut butter, etc...about 12 of our staples, in all. The cheapest one on 11/12 was Trader Joe's, but we do occasionally hit up the "cheap market" that sells off-brand and nearly-expired stuff, for a little reasonable splurging on unexpected ingredients).
ReplyDeleteWe also unplug everything we can from the wall outlet, even when it's powered off, to reduce the ghost charges that happen. I use the library to rent free movies and TV shows (we cut the cable, and moved to the lowest level of internet which, awesomely, is faster and less congested than the faster level we were on previously). At that time, I didn't have a smart phone, so our cell bill was as low as it could be. Since then, I try to remind myself I don't need to use data to be social (I use the wifi at work or home) so I can be on the lowest data plan. And, of course, I didn't sink any money into the blog, and was fierce about sticking to a budget with swaps (and only bought supplies for Printcess if I made a sale of that amount, so I was at least staying even there). All things that are doable! And if you need retail therapy, hit up a Goodwill (or other thrift shop) and give yourself a $20 spending limit.
Mostly, the best thing is not to view it as limiting yourself (which feels like an unfair punishment) but challenging yourself (because it's an adventure)!
(also, with regard to books, I stopped buying but started entering giveaways....so I can still feel like I'm getting something. And the library, of course. Yay library!)
ReplyDeleteTrue! Also Goodwill has super cheap books. DI (Deseret Industries-the mormon thrift store) sells their books for .50 cents here. IT's crazy. I bought a ton the last time I went thrifting.
ReplyDeleteBut seriously, I should not be buying books anymore because I have over 50 unread books on my shelves. It's a problem!
It's scary, but it'll be great once I get it all figured out.
ReplyDeleteI wish it were for me!
ReplyDeleteHoly cats! We have a DI here in Seattle, too. Not that I'm buying books, but that's very good info to have.
ReplyDeleteCongrats to all the winners!! :)
ReplyDeleteYeah I spent a lot of years not shopping there for political reasons, but it's just so much cheaper and my wallet prefers that lol.
ReplyDeleteCongratulations to all of the winners!
