Mrs. Smith's Pie & $50 William Sonoma Giveaway!

If you've ever met my roommate, you'd know that he has quite the obsession with cherry pie.  He's a health freak, but put a nice warm pie filled with that cherry goodness in front of him and he'll give up his daily yoga class to devour the entire thing.  So when I told him that I was bringing home some Mrs. Smith's Signature Deep Dish pies to try out for my cheat dessert this week (hey-I can be workign on weight loss and still indulge sometimes!) he was nearly bouncing up and down.

Mrs. Smith's Signature Deep Dish pies come in four flavors.
  • Signature Deep Dish Dutch Apple Pie with Caramel Sauce
  • Signature Deep Dish Cherry Pie with Butter Fudge Sauce
  • Signature Deep Dish Peach Pie with Cream Cheese Icing
  • Signature Deep Dish Pumpkin Pie with Cream Cheese Icing
When I went to the store to get these pies to try, they did not have the Peach or Pumpkin flavors-so I guess it goes to show how good those ones might be if they're all sold out!  So I brought home the Apple and Cherry and popped them in the oven before we ran a quick errand to get dinner.  Upon our return from picking up our take-out, the entire house smelled like butter (these pies are made with real butter!) and it smelled so good we could hardly wait for them to come out.
I accidentally cooked them too long, but they still were nice and buttery and flaky-and the filling was really good quality.  The Butter Fudge Sauce on the Cherry made it taste like a cherry chocolate pie, but the pie also stood well on it's own as a nice mild cherry pie.  The apple was delicious, but I would have preferred it without the Streusel on top as I felt it was a little too sweet-but the caramel was decadent and delicious!

    Honestly, I'm not a pie fan...but my husband LOVES LOVES LOVES cherry pie and it sad that I might not ever make him some. I might have to get him some of this though!
    Williams Sonoma have shortbread molds I would LOVE. I made some batches this Christmas and that would have made it even better.
