How to Make a Daisy Chain w/Beads

Well, if you're reading this I am busy bustling out of the house, catching my plane, or maybe I'm sitting around for four hours... Or if you're one of my late readers I might even be landing in NEW YORK! Huzzah!

Anyway, I've left you with this fabulous guest post from Beth at Living a Goddess Life.  I've known Beth for several years (we were introduced online by an ex bf) and she is one of the most talented and brilliant women I know.  So check out this awesome tutorial she's written for you!

Hey there, folks! This is Beth from Living a Goddess Life, filling in today for the fabulous (and vacationing) Miss Angie.

For those of you that aren't familiar with my blog, I post tutorials, recipes, DIY projects, and tips for living sustainably and cheaply. Living a Goddess Life is all about living life to the fullest- creating things, spreading joy, helping your community and the Earth, and enjoying the journey.

I wanted to share with you guys a quick tutorial on making a daisy chain with beads. This can be done with seed beads, pony beads, or any other uniformly-shaped bead. It makes a great gift (think jewelry, key ring, table decoration during Spring, etc) and is super easy to do.

Materials Needed:

  • Beads of three different colors (two for flowers, one for flower center)
  • Thread or floss (not separated into single strands)
  • A beading needle (it's long and very thing, and about two pennies at your local craft store)

How to:
  1. Thread your needle with a single thread (so you have a little tail)
  2. Tie a loose bead onto the non-needle end of the thread with a knot around the bead. This is your 'end bead', to keep the others from falling off the thread.

  3. Thread EIGHT beads of a single color onto the floss.
  4. Pass the needle through that first bead on the thread (closest to the end), creating a little loop.
  5. Gentle tighten the loop.
  6. Thread ONE center of flower bead onto the floss.
  7. Pass the needle through the fifth bead on the thread (so that if you ignore the bead you just passed through, you have 3 beads on the left and 3 beads on the right).
  8. Gently tighten, bringing the center of flower bead into the center of the bead loop.
  9. Repeat steps 3-8 with the next color of bead, repeating the pattern ad infinum.
Voila! Your very own beautiful daisy chain.
Thanks to Angie for letting me post this little tutorial here, and happy crafting to you all!
