Winter Song (MM)

What is Musical Mondays? Musical Mondays is a weekly linky party where we share a song we're into for the week, and talk about why we like it-or why it effects us.  Anyone who links up a song and a post about that song is entered to win a big music giveaway at the end of 2012.

This week's song:

Winter Song
by Sara Bareilles & Ingrid Michaelson

This is my winter song to you, the storm is coming soon
It rolls in from the sea
My voice a beacon in the night, my words will be your light
To carry you to me

Is love alive? Is love alive? Is love?

They say that things just cannot grow beneath the winter snow
Or so I have been told
They say we're buried far just like a distant star
I simply cannot hold

Is love alive? Is love alive? is love alive?

This is my winter song
December never felt so wrong
'Cause you're not where you belong
Inside my arms.

Bum bum bum bum bum bum bum bum bum bum
bum bum bum bum bum bum bum bum bum bum bum

I still believe in summer days, the seasons always change
And life will find a way
I'll be your harvester of light and send it out tonight
So we can start again

Is love alive? Is love alive? Is love alive?

This is my winter song
December never felt so wrong
'Cause you're not where you belong
Inside my arms.

This is my winter song to you, the storm is coming soon
It rolls in from the sea
My voice a beacon in the night, my words will be your light
To carry you to me

Is love alive? Is love alive? Is love alive? Is love alive?
Is love alive? Is love alive? Is love alive? Is love alive?
Is love alive? Is love alive? Is love alive? Is love alive?
Is love alive?

I know I pick this song every single year, but I can't help it because it's my favorite song for winter, and probably one of my all time favorites ever.  I love both Sara Bareilles and Ingrid Michaelson, and this harmony is so hauntingly lovely.  This song taps into a longing I have always had, and yet it doesn't make me feel sad; it has always made me feel hopeful.

Surprisingly (for me) this year brings with it a new meaning and a new connection with this old favorite.  When I wrote about it last year I had no one to direct it to. Instead I talked about how I found myself in another lonely December where I was not looking forward to family parties filled with questions about where I was going or when I'd be settling down.  I voiced a wish that by that time this year I'd have someone, and they'd be where they belong-inside my arms.

Here it is just ten days short of that day last year and I kind of have someone in my life, but he is not here.  He is states away and I miss him.  I have no idea what this really is, or where it will go, but I do know that I miss him and I'm counting down the days until I get to see him at the end of December.

What are you listening to this week?

Looking Back at November

Wow, I cannot believe it's December already.  This year flew by and I can't believe that pretty soon I'll be writing a yearly wrap up post.  In some ways the time flying is good for me.  Time flying means that I get closer and closer to seeing Mr. Bingo again.  I know it's not until the end of the month, but I can't not be excited for it... I should make an advent calendar for that, instead of Christmas haha!

In November I:

The Country Barrel Giveaway

Recently I was contacted by The Country Barrel who asked if I would review a set of their Mason Jar Tumbler Lids.  They sent me a couple, and let me tell you-they really make a mason jar adorable.  I'm a fan of taking something simple like a jar and making it into something classy like a tumbler.  These are fantastic for packing my ice water around in! :)

These would make cute little Holiday gifts for someone, and you can pick the color of the straw you want when you order them!

They also have some other cute things in their shop.  Have a look at these!

The Country Barrel is giving one of you lucky readers a set of two Mason Jar Tumbler lids!  How fun is that?
