Baby Play Dates, Grown-Up Dates, and Smoothies!

This weekend was highly eventful.  Friday night I went up to Kristina's to spend the night, and she let me do laundry which was wonderful!  Then Saturday morning we got up and went to visit my friend Heather who I haven't seen in a year, and her new baby.  They had a baby play date! It was very cute.

1. Laying in Kristi's canopy bed was pretty magical. 2. Madison tugging on Kat's pants-I love her facial expression.  3. Baby love-Kat and me.  4. She was trying to block her brother's incessant kisses.  5. Kat and Mckenzie meet-they loved each other! 6. Kat playing with the monkey. 7. I can't believe Jax is this big! he's huge!

Saturday night I went to Rocky's house and we had a lovely lazy date.  I made nachos and homemade guac, and then we cuddled while he worked on coursework and I watched Netflix.  I am really digging this boy, I hope things work out.

Sunday was pretty lazy, until the roommate and I went to the store to get groceries as we plan on juicing for the next week or so.  Unfortunately once we got home we found out the Juicer was dead (cause of death: unknown) and decided we have to buy a new one-so we used the blender instead...  I think the recipe needs to be changed for the blender. It wasn't my favorite.

This week's Happy list:
  • My amazing bloggy friends, especially Ricki Jill and Beth who have offered me amazing words of advice and comfort.  Also Aubrey, for aptly pointing out my theme song right now should be You Got it Bad by Usher.  :P
  • Rocky is super communicative.  So no matter where we are I know I can count on him to tell me how he feels and be honest-that is a godsend.
  • Also him calling just to say hi before he goes to work makes me happy.  I was cranky all day yesterday, but then he called and I was cheerful the rest of the evening.
  • Roxberry makes me happy.  My smoothie was gross, but Roxberry has Kale/Spinach based smoothies that are delicious.

Flying High {Musical Mondays}

What is Musical Mondays?
Musical Mondays is a weekly linky party where we share a song we're into for the week, and talk about why we like it-or why it effects us.

This week's song:

Flying High
by Jem

You can't know, oh you can't know how much I think about you
No, it's making my head spin
Looking at you and you are looking at me and we both know what we want
Mmhmmm, so close to giving in

Feels so nice, oh yeah you feel so nice
Wish I could spend the night but I can't pay the price

[Chorus]
But I'm flying so high
High off the ground
When you're around
And I can feel your high
Rockin' me inside
It's too much to hide

I know, oh yes I know that we can't be together
But I just like to dream
It's so strange the way our paths have crossed
Mmhmmm, it's written in the stars it seems

Feels so nice, oh yeah you feel so nice
I'd love to spend the night but I can't pay the price

[Chorus]

Back to earth, where did you take me to?
I know there's no such thing as painless love
Well it will catch us up and we can never win

But Ooooh, I feel so alive
Oooohoooh, just wanna hold you
Hold you so tight

[Chorus x2]

***

This song came up on my playlist as I was driving home from Rocky's the other day.  I'd forgotten just how emotional this song is, especially when you start to relate to it.  It's sweet and indicates feeling amazing about falling in love, but it also indicates a touch of sadness to the whole thing-a sadness that could possibly be brought on by fear.  A fear I know all too well.

I know there's no such thing as painless love
Well it will catch us up and we can never win

I'm doing pretty well not letting that fear keep me from getting involved, and from feeling things-but I'm still scared.  I'm not the only one feeling that fear in this dating attempt, but I am the only I have control over-the only one I can be sure wont let it overwhelm me.  That is how it should be.  I can control only how I choose to feel and react, but I can't control the outcome, and I certainly can't control how he feels about me.  That is scary as hell.  It's hard not to be afraid of falling in love and getting hurt again, especially with so many of those examples littering my past.

Feels so nice, oh yeah you feel so nice
I'd love to spend the night but I can't pay the price

We're taking it slow, there is some healing on both ends that needs to be accomplished before certain steps can be taken, and that's okay.  Currently, I'm learning patience.  I have a feeling that if I wait it out and work on my own healing during that time, it could be something worth waiting for. Worth sticking by even though it's scary.
