I've heard this song before, but I recently got to sing it while playing Rockband, and it's been stuck in my head ever since.  The whole time I was singing it I kept thinking "Well, this song may be a little cheesy and catchy-but she has a valid point."

It seems like every time you fall in love, or think you're in love-somehow the thump thump thump of your heart completely drowns out any kind of logic in your head.  You get lost in these feelings, caught up in the rush and swept completely away from any kind of firm standing you may have had.  You lose sight of the shore completely until the time comes that love turns you upside down, raft-less and aimless into the current, and you find yourself frantically swimming reaching out for any kind of sold hold or patch of dirt.

This is not me being pessimistic or cynical. I am fully aware that sometimes you have to throw caution to the wind and let yourself ride the rapids regardless of safety concerns-however even when taking yourself out on the white water you wear a life vest.  When you feel your heart starting to pound loudly as the blood rushes through your body and floods your cheeks with that old familiar glow, and you feel your judgement get cloudy-remember: your logic is your life vest. Take it with you, keep it snug against you so if you ever should find yourself slipping off the raft you are prepared.

Don't let your mind talk your heart out of feeling things or falling-you'll miss out on too much.  However, don't let your heart completely outweigh your mind when it comes to feelings either.  You need to be sure it's right and as wonderful as you deserve.  Think about it, feel it, and enjoy every part of the process.
