Hey, I saw this cool link-up over at Chasing My Extraordinary, who linked me to the host-Helene in Between! Like my pineapple picture above? I chose it specifically because of Helene's pineapple picture. Themed? Yes please!
So this is a fun little link up about things you might not or probably don't know about me...
- I own 300 bottles of nail polish and my nails are almost always bare. (Thus why I'm selling about 100 bottles HERE)
- I blog daily while at work, but very very very rarely when I'm at home. It's just too hard to go from my work computer with my ergonomic keyboard and three giant monitors to my little laptop with it's 13" screen.
- I'm the most disorganized person. I don't use my planner I bought, my house is in a constant state of clutter, and I'm always feeling like I'm running around with my head cut off trying to keep blog stuff organized. I'm working on this. lol
- My typical style is jeans and a graphic T-shirt, but I also love a nice flowing sundress.
- I wear a shaper top everywhere. It's an issue, I know it, but I just don't feel comfortable if I don't have it on.
- When I was 16 years old my grandfather made me a deal. He said if I lost 100lbs and kept it off for 6 months he'd pay me $2,000 or put it towards a new car. You'd think that would have been a motivator, but I think my damned rebellious spirit took issue with it and I never did. I found out Sunday that this deal still stands... I just don't know how to feel about it.
- I've only had one lasting monogamous relationship, and that was my very first one. We were together for about a year and a half. I had one other relationship that was about that long, but he wanted to be "Polyamorous"... For him that meant he was keeping his options open. Other than that, I get a few months out of them-not for lack of being great at being a partner, I really am, I just pick the wrong guys. It's a pattern.
- I'm extremely impatient. Yet I'm always waiting for things. WTF is up with that?
- I buy things and then never use them. Thus, the 300 bottles of nail polish and planner I never use... Or my gym membership...
- I seriously don't know how to budget, but I'm buying a house and doubling my outgoing, so I really need to learn.
- I'm incredibly loyal. Not to the point of being a doormat anymore, but I'll pretty much stick by you unless you give me a really good reason not to.
- I'm both an introvert and an extrovert. No really. I want to go out and make lots of plans to, until the time comes to actually go out and then I just wish I could stay home. However, if I then go out I have a great time... But then it takes two or three days at home to recover. Haha!
- I love to cook, but hate cooking for just me. I want to cook for other people.
- I learned to type with a double space after the period and I cannot break the habit no matter how hard I try.
- My thumbs bend at backwards at almost a 90 degree angle. "Hitchhiker Thumbs"
- I am easily susceptible to food advertising. If I see a really effective ad or photo, it doesn't matter if I don't even have to like the restaurant to suddenly crave it. Such as a double cheesburger from McDonalds (ew) or Animal Fries from In-N-Out. Neither place I eat at or usually want, but man that one ad will get me obsessing. (While writing this, I literally stopped and went to In-N-Out because Shawn set me this link and number three got me bad. lol)
What don't I know about you?

I really love this post! I'm not sure how I feel about the 100lbs/$2,000 thing either.
ReplyDeletelove this idea for a post!
ReplyDeleteI have a really simple excel budget worksheet I use - based off getting paid weekly, but could be easily changed to bi-weekly or whatever. (I'm getting ready to switch to semi-monthly so, Its going to be my crutch for a few months BIG TIME as I figure that out). If you want me to shoot a blank copy over to you and explain it, just email me at playswellwithcoffee(at)gmail(dot)com. I'd be happy to help. You would just need some version of excel on your computer. (But could probably set it up in google docs excel version too I guess).
ReplyDeleteYou are my hero. I'd love to have a look t it. If you ever want to guest post about it I'd be happy to facilitate that also!
ReplyDeleteYou should join! I think the linky is up for one more day.
ReplyDeleteYeah... I think my teenage brain took what was meant to be an incentive to get healthy and turned it into "Grandpa doesn't like me because I'm fat" which then caused me to just give up trying to lose weight.
ReplyDeleteI am susceptible to food talk. Not even advertising. Like, my friend posted something about KFC on FB this morning...now it's all I'm thinking about. lol.
ReplyDeleteI usually don't blog from home. I can't bring myself to look at a computer when I get out of work. I am 100% susceptible to food advertising as well! its so bad
ReplyDeleteI'm the same way... Just too much staring at a computer screen all day long to sit on it all night too.
ReplyDeleteMan, that happens to me a lot also lol.
ReplyDeleteThis is a cool idea for a blog post. Even I keep buying stuff that I never really use!
ReplyDeleteOn losing weight, and speaking from a lifetime of experience, don't do it for the money. When you are ready, do it for yourself and only yourself. I lost 85 pounds last year. I did it for myself, made a few people uncomfortable, and have never loved life more than I do now that I'm healthy. You and you alone.

This was so fun!
ReplyDeleteI do almost all of my blogging from work. Uh...I mean, from home, 100% outside of work hours. Yeah...
Also, have you tried YNAB? I know, I know, it's another thing to buy and potentially never use, but it has COMPLETELY changed budgeting for me. I was lost before I started using it.
I haven't, what is it?
ReplyDeleteYNAB stands for You Need a Budget. It's software that you download to your computer, but they also have an app that you can use on your phone that will sync with the computer version. It's not just the software because anyone can just create a spreadsheet and go about their business, but it's the approach they have to budgeting that I really like. There are all kinds of free tutorials and classes they offer to help get you started. It's awesome. (http://ynab.com)
ReplyDeleteBudgeting, buying, working out, organizing....all habit things. Which means they're hard work and require a lot of patience with yourself (hmmm....I see a trend here). If you ever want to change any of them, I think it's a matter of finding motivation that's personal to you and strong enough to get you throw the low parts. And probably change them one at a time, because that could be hugely overwhelming otherwise.
ReplyDeleteI gave up on gym memberships and losing X amount of weight, honestly. My mom tried bribing me to lose weight, too. I found out what works, though: not giving a shit. Eating and moving and focusing on having a balanced diet and being healthy, but completely ignoring muscle and fat ratios. Because as soon as I started stressing, the pounds came on. So fuck it. :)
The bad taste in boys....oh, man. Yeah. I mean, there's no other way, right? If you (or anyone) had great taste in men, how would you know? Your first few boyfriends would end up being your husband (assuming it was that good and you both wanted that) so you'd stop dating and you'd never be able to say whether you had good or bad taste in men. And anyway, the entire point of dating is to have fun and learn about yourself (maybe improve yourself), not find some elusive perfect match. Embrace your bad taste in men- it's a source for great party stories, and wisdom. :P
Oh yeah, and as always, you are wise wise wise. :)
ReplyDeleteI should add that they haven't always been "bad" some were just not a fit. lol
ReplyDeleteLOL about the nail polishes, I'm kind of the opposite. I only have a few and try to keep polish on my nails most of the time. And I totalky get it about the computer thing, it would be hard for me to blog on a smaller one too, I'd get spoiled. :)
ReplyDeleteAnd budgeting, you can do it!! I really love mint.com, it's free and easy to use.
Yeah, I don't love the adult dating world either. lol It's not really that fun...
ReplyDeleteOne thing you don't know about me: I'm addicted to sugar. Like seriously, I can't stop. Feeling stressed? GOTTA GO TO MCDONALDS TO GET A FRAPPE. It's horrible and I'm trying really hard to break it. =)
ReplyDeleteOMG FINALLY! Someone else who has funky thumbs! <3
ReplyDeleteHitchhiker thumbs, I love it! And over 300 nail polishes?! Wow! Nice to get to know you better!
ReplyDeleteLet's see. I am totally organized at work but not at home. The funny thing is that my daughter is the same thing (she discovered this in her first year of college), totally organized in school but all of her clothes on the floor. My son is the opposite.
ReplyDeleteAlso, I am getting too old to care about what anyone thinks of my hobbies, the way I dress or most stuff.'
300 bottles of nail polish? Seriously? Where do you even store them all?
ReplyDeleteOh man, me too! I really need to lay off the sugar!
ReplyDeleteHaha! It's a little weird-but they're my thumbs, and they were my grandpa's thumbs (he called them "hitchhiker's thumbs" lol!
ReplyDeleteLOL! Yeah, ti's too many, and thank you!
ReplyDeleteThat's good!
ReplyDeleteI have a little shelf that used to be for VHS tapes that I put them on haha!
ReplyDeleteI also have hitch hiker thumbs!
ReplyDeleteThat's very judicious of you. ;)
ReplyDelete(and thanks...it's less wisdom than trying to qualify the bad experiences I went through, and then using that to help others feel less frustrated, in theory).
Whoa, 300 bottles of nail polish! That's a lot of mani and pedi's!
