Man Candy Monday: John Barrowman

John Barrowman

In honor of Torchwood being back on again for season 4, I figured I'd pick Captain Jack as my Man Candy today.  I just love him, in that geeky way.  He's adorable.

Name: John Scot Barrowman
Birth Date: March 11, 1967
Birth Place: Mount Vernon, Glasgow, Scotland

Noteable Roles:
Captain Jack Harkness - Dr. Who
Captain Jack Harkness - Torchwood
Patrick Logan - Desperate Housewives
Peter Williams - Titans
Peter Fairchild - C.P.W

Fun Facts
  • Born in Glasgow, Scotland, and raised in Joliet, Illinois.
  • He returned to the UK, for a 6 month Shakespeare semester with the United States International University of San Diego, but left to star in the musical production of "Anything Goes," with Elaine Page.
  • He went on to star in "Miss Saigon," "Matador," "Rope," and "Hair" at London's West End.
  • Barrowman has homes in London and Cardiff, Wales with his partner of many years, Scott Gill, who is an architect.
  • His sister has written a book about his life with him.
  • Voted best guest actor by readers of Doctor Who Magazine for his five episodes in 2005 season.
  • Spent some time in Los Angeles chasing movie and TV roles. Made final three in casting for the role of Will in "Will & Grace" (1998). When he didn't get the part, he demanded an explanation and found he had been rejected as "not gay enough.".
  • He has classified his voice as being a "lyric baritone with a low baritone bottom and a tenor top.".

  1. I may be a basically straight male, but if I had to go gay for someone it would be either Barrowman or NPH.

Speaking of NPH, how epic would it be if he had a guest shot on Torchwood? :)
