Road Trip to Seattle: Part 2 {Photo Dump}

Sunday was the big day.  We'd planned a bunch of stuff to squeeze in because that was the day both Jerremy and David could join us on our adventure, and we were sure lucky to have them to drive us around the city!  We swung by their house and split up, Jerremy and I in one car, everyone else and the dog in the other.

Since they had to drop Hiro off at the sitter, Jerremy and I made it to Pike Place first and decided day drinking was a good idea.  We ended up at Kells Irish Pub with two snakebites halfway gone before the rest of the group joined us for lunch.  The owner stopped by our table, and upon hearing that we were from Utah she let off in her thick Irish accent that she didn't think anyone in Utah ever drank.  It was hilarious.  

After lunch we all went down to do some shopping at Pike Place Market.  We ate Beechers Mac & Cheese (soooo good), saw the first Starbucks, bought Turkish Delight, and enjoyed the view from the waterfront.

After we were done at Pike Place we headed towards Capitol Hill.  Aside from the Tattoo, Courtney also wanted to get her belly button pierced, and Kristina and I wanted to go into a gay bar without the teenagers.  So we dropped them off at the piercing place and walked down to CC Attles.  We soon found that they totally free-pour, there are lots of naked men on the walls, and it doesn't matter if the women's bathroom is for girls-it was fun!   
After meeting back up with the teenagers we wandered about Capitol Hill while David and Jerremy went to pick up Hiro.  We did some boutique shopping, and then stopped for a bite at Dilletante before heading back to the car.

Walking back from the bar we witnessed a domestic dispute.  This guy was screaming "You shouldn't have prostituted yourself B****!" and more obscenities and grabbing this poor transgender woman who was screaming at the top of her lungs.  A couple of guys flew past us and jumped into the store to ask them to call 911 before chasing after the guy with a switchblade, and an older gentleman stopped us to ask if we had mobiles to call the police (which we told him it had already been done) and while we were talking to him another guy pulled up on a motorcycle to yell at the guy we were talking to and ask him why he hasn't called him back-we took this as our exit to walk away.

We then met back up with David and Jerremy, and headed down to catch the Ferry over to Bremerton.  The Ferry was probably my favorite part, I love boats, and we had so much fun! It was also kind of romantic saying goodbye to the city while speeding away on a boat...

 Once we left the ferry we drove down to Tacoma to see the glass museum.  It was closed, but the outside was still incredibly beautiful.  We walked around there for a while before heading back to try and get some sleep before the really long drive the next day.

This trip went by so fast, but I had so much fun. Other than the 14 hour drive home (exhausting!) it felt like I blinked and it was over.  I also spent all my money (between getting new tires for the car first, and then everything we did on the trip) and came home with a car that is very broken (air conditioning isn't working right and now I have a check engine light on) but it was worth it.

Road Trip to Seattle: Part 1 {Photo Dump}

Last Thursday Kristina, Courtney, Aspen and I hit the road in my little car headed towards Seattle.  The plan was to drive to Boise (since we were leaving at 7pm) and stay with a cousin, but she flaked on us and we ended up grabbing a last minute hotel where we crashed for the night before heading on to Seattle from there.

As soon as we got into Seattle we hurried and spruced ourselves up (Court and Aspen make it look so easy after a 9 hour drive), and then headed over to David and Jerremy's house (which is right by Lake Washington so he has an amazing view!) where we climbed up on the roof to meet David's bees and see the beehive, and then went out for Sushi. After Sushi he drove us around a bit in order to show us where the light rail station was in Tukwila, and then we took Courtney to her very first adult novelty store.  Poor 16 year old Aspen had to wait outside.

That night we went back to the hotel room and hung out for a little bit before crashing.  Poor Aspen got really sick in the middle of the night and threw up all over... Seeing as both her and Courtney (who were sharing a bed) are super heavy sleepers (and Aspen is even a sleepwalker) she slept through throwing up and Courtney slept through being thrown up on... I don't think I'll ever forget waking up to the smell of vomit and hearing Court squealing "Aspen I hate you!  IT'S IN MY HAIR!" followed by lots of laughter... They stripped the bed, showered off, and we prayed the maids would come soon... 

Since Aspen wasn't feeling well, she opted to stay at the hotel and try and get some more sleep the next day.  We dropped by David and Jerremy's to pick up our papers we'd left.  Jerremy wasn't feeling well either, and David was working, so we took off to try and find the light rail station again (we got horribly lost) and head into the city.  There was no parking, so we parked at a grocery store and walked down-which we were then told we'd probably be towed so we stressed about it the whole time we were in the city.  All we did in the city was check out a tattoo parlor (which wanted a minimum of $100 each so we skipped it) then went down to have lunch at Piroshky Piroshki in Pike Place Market for a quick lunch before deciding to head back to the car, and then back to the hotel to pick up Aspen.
After we grabbed Aspen (and relaxed a bit in the room since it had been cleaned), we went and got our tattoos.  I wrote about this yesterday, so if you missed it, read the post HERE.  The tattooing took a good 4 hours (from the time we got there, waited for the tattooer to get back from the bank, and then waited for him to design the tattoos) and so by the time we were done we went back to David and Jerremy's and they drove us into Capitol Hill (the gay district) to have dinner at Lil Woody's, which was the second best burger I've ever had. (Second only to the Kobe Beef Burger at the Rogue Brewery in San Francisco.)

After dinner they drove us up to Queen Anne Hill to see the "Frazier view" of Seattle, and it was beautiful.  Also, it was freezing! When we were done gawking at the gorgeous view we went to Dick's for milkshakes, and then headed home exhausted.
