Awesome Awesomeness

Is everyone ready for some Awesome?
Good, I like the world Awesome. It's awesome! =)

Anyway, joined the 30 days of awesome over at Apartment 513 with Lacey! The idea is that you are supposed to go and do something awesome every day for 30 days. It could be something small, it could be something big, it could be anything that you think is awesome! So prepare for some pretty dorky stuff here folks...
Anyway, you then can blog about it! I think I will be blogging about it once a week (Fridays) and just recapping! If you want to join in the fun, head over to Lacey's 30 Days of Awesome post to check it out.

Maybe We Aint Meant for This Love

Here we stand, somewhere in between this moment and the end
Will we bend? Or will we open up and take this whole thing in?

Everybody else is smiling
Man, their smiles don't fade
And you don't even wonder why
You just don't think that way

Maybe you and me got lost somewhere
We can't move on and we can't stay here
Well maybe we've just had enough
Maybe we ain't meant for this love

You and me tried everything
But still that mockingbird wont sing
Man this life seems hard enough
Maybe we ain't meant for this love

Take my hand, and I will lead you through the broken promise land
Yes I can, oh yes I can, I can be there when you need it
I give it all til you can't feel it anymore

I don't wanna love you now if you'll just leave someday
I don't wanna turn around if you'll just walk away

[Chorus Repeat X2]

-Mockingbird by Rob Thomas-

I don't know why I haven't blogged about this song until now, but here I am, finally writing with it repeating in my ear.

A lot of you here in bloggy land have witnessed me writing about the relationship troubles I've had, and the back-and-forth my heart has had to endure over the last year and a half. Granted, my first blog was written in February, so you didn't see all of it, but you did see the most brutal part of it; that which has been the last 6 months. I'm going to be the first one to admit, a lot of it was my own damn fault. However, it takes two to tango (as the old saying goes) and I was really put through the ringer on a lot of stuff that wasn't fully on me.

I've always been a person who moves forward with life, and if I set my mind to getting over someone, I usually can, and there have been times I've really needed to. So what is it about this year that seems to have stopped me in my tracks? It seems like both times I tried to move forward when I knew full-well that I should, I fell flat on my face. Like quicksand, the harder I tried to pull out of it, the faster I was sucked back in.

I've made my peace with the one experience, and accepted what we actually are now. Great-moving on-we're not talking about him. However, the experiences were so intertwined with each other, that I can't help but mention him in the same post. It's inevitable, but it's also not the point, so we'll move on. We're talking about E, and the fact that he the memory still pops up and haunts me now and again.
Are you wondering how this song relates? Well, I think I connected with this song because the lyrics (and I am SUCH a lyric person) woke me up a little bit. I was in the driving with my iPod on shuffle, and it came on for the first time and stopped my thought process dead in it's tracks while the song registered.

Maybe you and me got lost somewhere
We can't move on and we can't stay here
Isn't that the truth? Somewhere in the shuffle, and the back and forth of the relationship, we lost ourselves. Maybe I shouldn't speak for him, but at least I know for me. I lost the strong, logical person that is me, and turned into this emotional doormat who hung on to what wasn't there. Oh, how I wanted it to be there, and I think I hung on to the "idea" and not reality. Reality was, if he'd wanted to be with me he would have made time. He was too busy and I couldn't take being stood-up and canceled on all the time.
Again, I'm not passing the blame here... I did my fair share of being uncertain at a time when he was, and he wanted something real. However, after working through most of those issues, and me being ready to step-up and have a real relationship, he wasn't anymore. Our timing just never matched up, no matter how hard I tried. It was a year and a half of trying, and failing every time. You can only fail so much, before you just have to give up and move on.

Well maybe we've just had enough
Maybe we ain't meant for this love
I wrote a blog on Myspace the other day, that I didn't post here because it was so angry. Truthfully, it was all of the things I had wanted to say to him, all of the truth that I had kept locked up inside of me, and it had to be let out. Since I wrote that blog, I've felt much more free and able to move on and let go. I think I just had to stop bottling up the emotions and vent them out before I could move on and continue with my life and other options.
I've always been a person who believes that everything happens for a reason, and whatever is meant to be will be. So maybe we weren't meant for that love. Perhaps it wasn't meant to be.
So this is good. This is me letting go and moving on to bigger and better things, and planning on being happy. :)

WW: Meet My Best Friends

It's time again for Mama Kat's Writer's Workshop! Every week she gives us a list of prompts hoping to inspire us to write something creative in our blogs. This week has good prompts, I think there is probably something I can write about each of them, but whether you all would want to read a post that long is another story... So I'll simply choose one...

How did you meet your best friend?
Since I have too many best friends to pick just one, I thought I'd introduce to you a few of my nearest and dearest friends, and tell you how I met them. You see, I'm not above bragging when it comes to my friends, I love them and they happen to be some of the very best people in the entire world. So here we go!

The first time I met Kristina was up North Fork, when I accompanied Matt (her brother-in law) to their family reunion. We sat around and drank, and had a good time. The second time I met her and her husband Ken, wasn't quite so great, but it was a funny memory! Matt and I went to her house to drink and sing Karaoke, and I ended up with a half a bottle of Jack all by myself. By the end of the night all I had was one of Kristina's old sweaters, because I'd ended up vomiting all over my own clothes. Not pretty.

Now Kristina and I have become great friends! I lived with her for a while, and now I'm staying at her house for a few weeks as well. We have a great time geeking out over Serial Killers in history, or staying up late having some Angie & Kristina Time generally constitutes a lot of talking or watching great shows! We've also had some great memories driving around late at nice, losing ourselves in the maze of houses while blaring Alanis Morissette and singing along at the top of our lungs! We're so alike!

Matthew contacted me on Yahoo messenger, looking for a date. At the time, I was kind of dating someone else (though not exclusively) and things really weren't working out. However, I still kept turning Matt down, until finally in a moment of sheer frustration with the guy I was seeing, I caved and said yes. I also happened to have 3 other dates that week, and Matt was Tuesday. Surprisingly enough, we really hit it off and started seeing each other. We dated for a year and even lived together for a while, which ultimately proved to be our undoing.

Though we're not dating anymore, we're still really good friends! I have really fond memories of Matt including our trip to Topaz Mountain, and many many outings with him and his kids! They're like family to me!

I've known Max for quite a few years now, and I met him through an ex-boyfriend of mine who I was with for just under 2 years. When we broke up, I thought I had to give up my friendship with Max and Garrett, so we didn't talk for a while. It was just a year ago that we re-connected when I invited him to come to a coffee/dinner that my friends and I were having. He came and we've been really great friends ever since! It's so great to have him back in my life!

I have so much fun with Max, the cynical bastard that he is, and he's smart and funny! He is the cause for my addiction to strategy games, and I really enjoy getting together with him on the weekends and playing them! I also was grateful he came to Vegas with Josh and Me for my birthday!

I met Josh through Max. When I invited Max to come to that dinner/meeting, he brought Josh along with him. What's really funny is that a few years back when I was hanging out with Max, everyone always said "You need to meet our friend Josh! But he's in Europe!" So almost 5 years later we meet and hit it off really well and have been great friends ever since. In the time (just under a year) that I've known him, we've been through a lot and developed a friendship that's closer to family. All of my closest friends are like family to me, and Josh as much so.

Josh is a blast, and anyone who meets him can't help but like him. I've enjoyed great times with him including some very good conversations, my birthday Vegas trip, going to Lake Powell with his family, and many many many other good times. He's also going to be my roommate within the next few weeks, and I can't wait to find our apartment! Here's to many more memories!

I met Angel a few times back when I was dating the same ex who was friends with Max. We hit it off really well and enjoyed each other company. When I stopped dating the ex-boyfriend, we kept in touch via Myspace and talked to each other every once in a while. When Max came back into my life, and Josh came in, they brought Angel with them! It was so good to have her around again! I love this girl!

Tonya and I became fast friends when she was hired at the bowling alley to be my manager. We hit it off really well and before long we were getting together after work, trying to get schedules together, and her son was calling me Auntie Angie. Tonya is in the Air Force, and unfortunately was stationed at Edwards AFB in California about 3 years ago, and I miss her like crazy! I need to make a trip out to see her!

Cristina has been my best friend since I was seven years old, and she was nine. We've grown up together, ever since she moved in next door to my grandmother's house all those years ago. I don't see her as often as I'd like, but when we do see each other, we pick back up like we've never left off. This is a really old picture of her, from when we were younger, but I need to upload a newer one when I get home, so I'll switch it later! :)

I have lots of other friends that feel like family too! It's just the stories of having met them aren't as fun as these! Take a look at them below! I love them all!

Paul and I met through Josh and Max. I have a great time with Paul!

Amber and I also met through Josh and Max, she's crazy, but I love her!

David and I met when we worked together at Mozy. He always says "I'll never find another Angie." I love him!

Garrett and I met back when I was dating my ex. He and Max both became really awesome friends to have!
